Please arrive early to register, and bring a checkbook/cash (about $15-30), photo ID, and your Voter Registration card (this may not be required depending on the County).

The purpose of the Assembly/Convention will be to:

A. Nominate Republican Candidates for County and State Offices (ie, Commissioner, House and Senate District, etc.).
B. Elect delegates and alternates to serve at:
• Colorado State Republican Assembly/Convention
• Congressional District Assembly/Convention
C. Adopt County Resolutions/Platform

Please note that County Central Committee bylaws state that:
• Proxies are not allowed (ie, you must show up to participate)
• Any delegate vacancy (due to any reason) shall be filled immediately from the alternates in attendance from the precinct in which there is a vacancy, and alternates shall be seated as delegates by numerical order, beginning with the first alternate .

5) Give a copy of your precinct caucus location to every Ron Paul supporter in your area. Remind them that today is the day, and that they need to get out to vote for Dr. Paul.

NOTE: If you registered as a Republican by December 5th, 2007 and are at the proper caucus location, but your name is not on the list of registered voters at your location, Colorado Republican Party rules state that you can fill out and sign an affirmation of eligibility form.

“I’m just totally dumbfounded,” Paul said as he began his speech before a raucous sign-waving crowd. “The enthusiasm seems to be growing. Freedom is popular.”

Paul said he is so well-received in Colorado because people in the state share his love of personal liberties, his quest to “return to constitutional principles” and his belief that government needs to be dramatically reduced.

Delegates are simply representatives from each level (precinct, county, state) who carry the vote for their community.  Delegates are nominated and elected at each level. 

Having someone who supports Ron Paul become a delegate is extremely valuable.  This person should be a respected and reliable person, so that your community knows this person and will attend the assemblies and conventions to represent them.  They should be able to present the value of your candidate to the community in a convincing way.  

Once someone is nominated as a delegate, they will get the chance to speak at the caucus about Ron Paul and ask for support.  The caucus will then vote on whether to support that person (and thereby the candidate) as a delegate to the county assembly.  Often times the Precinct Captain/Committee person (PC) is a delegate, thus another reason to take on this role if it is available.

By becoming delegates and PC’s, you will be able to get community support and push to make changes in the party and party leadership that you think will be of benefit.  So become a delegate and PC for Ron Paul, or vote for a Ron Paul delegate at the caucus!

A Precinct Caucus is just a neighborhood meeting of registered Republican voters.

Precinct Caucuses are the first step towards electing Colorado’s 44 delegates to the Republican National Convention that will be held in Minneapolis, September 1-4, 2008.

A Colorado voter must meet the following qualifications in order to be eligible to participate and vote in a Republican Precinct Caucus:

Colorado Republicans will also conduct a Presidential Preference Poll in every Precinct Caucus on Tuesday, Feb. 5 Only one vote will be taken in each precinct and every eligible Republican voter will be allowed to cast his or her vote for whomever they support for the Republican nomination for President of the US.

Results from every Precinct Caucus will be reported to their respective County Republican Central Committee officers who will then report their county results to the Colorado Republican Headquarters. We will release results of the Colorado Republican Presidential Preference Poll that evening of Tuesday, Feb. 5 as they arrive including posting the results on our website.

The Precinct Caucuses elect delegates to Republican County Conventions/Assemblies that are held between February 16 and March 17 in all 64 counties. These County Conventions/Assemblies also designate candidates for the Republican Primary Election for local offices on Tuesday, August 12, 2008.

Republican County Conventions/Assemblies elect delegates to the Colorado Republican State Convention/Assembly that will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Broomfield Event Center in Broomfield, Colorado.

Republican County Conventions/Assemblies also elect delegates to other district Conventions/Assemblies that designate candidates for the Republican nomination for the Colorado General Assembly, Congress, and District Attorney for the Republican Primary Election on Tuesday, August 12, 2008.

The Colorado Republican State Convention/Assembly will elect 22 delegates and alternates to the Republican National Convention. The Colorado Republican State Convention/Assembly will also designates candidates for the United States Senate for the Republican Primary Election on Tuesday, August 12, 2008.

Republican Congressional District Conventions/Assemblies will elect a total of 21 delegates and alternates to the Republican National Convention. Three delegates and alternates will be elected from each of Colorado’s seven congressional districts.

The Colorado Republican State Chairman, the Colorado Republican National Committeeman and Colorado Republican National Committeewoman are automatic delegates to the Republican National Convention.

Pursuant to discussion and approval by the CRC Executive Committee on December 7th 2007, only active-duty military personnel do not need to attend their precinct caucus in order to vote in the (Colorado) Presidential Preference Poll (held on Feb. 5, 2008).

In order to submit an absentee vote, the military personnel must submit to the Colorado Republican Committee Chairman Dick Wadhams or individual County Chair a signed letter on official letterhead or an email from a .mil email address:

1. Attesting to which Colorado County they have been registered as a Republican since on or before December 5th, 2007.
2. Attesting that they are on active duty with the United States Armed Forces and will be unable to physically attend their precinct caucus
3. Indicating which candidate they support in the Presidential Preference Poll
