Nebraska and West Virginia

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

MSNBC.com is reporting that Dr. Paul received just under 6,000 votes and 5% in West Virginia, and ABC News is reporting that Dr. Paul received over 17,000 votes and 13% of the vote in Nebraska.

The 5% does look discouraging at first, but that’s almost 6,000 more people who have officially registered their support for Dr. Paul, and it’s a great starting point to build on in West Va.  And although we wish it was higher, of course, the 13% in Nebraska is very encouraging.

If you’re a registered voter in Mississippi, be sure to vote in your primary today, and get as many people to vote for Ron Paul along with you as possible! Each vote cast sends a message that it’s time for real change - not just a tinkering around with the status quo, but true, substantive change. The future of liberty in this nation is up to us.

Green Mountain Revolution

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Pretty good article in the Burlington Free Press on the Ron Paul revolution in Vermont:

Lincoln White of Colchester thinks Ron Paul has a chance to win next week’s Republican presidential primary in Vermont — really.

“It’s going to be a tough battle,” the Vermont Gas Systems information technology manager and father of three said last week. “Vermont has an open primary, and Ron Paul has had a lot of support from independents. I think it’s entirely possible.”

White’s hopes are contradicted by last week’s American Research Group poll. It had John McCain, the party’s presidential frontrunner, with 73 percent support among likely Vermont GOP primary voters. The poll gave Paul 11 percent; Mike Huckabee had 9 percent.

Still, if on-the-ground organization in the state was the sole factor in predicting success in the state’s March 4 primary, Paul would be vying for victory with McCain.

Paul has people going door-to-door talking to voters, plus radio and newspaper ads running around the state — all organized and funded by Paul supporters in Vermont without help from Paul’s national campaign office.

McCain’s operation, by comparison, has no staff working in Vermont and is being run from New Hampshire by Jim Barnett, a McCain aide and the former chairman of the Vermont Republican Party. Huckabee appears to have no presence in the state; his national office did not respond to a request for an interview Monday.

Read on. And help organize the Ron Paul supporters in your state by becoming a Precinct Leader. Taking back the party, and the country, is a long process, but Ron Paul is going to do it with the help of hard-working supporters like those in Vermont.

Washington State, Round 2

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Ron Paul did very well in the Washington caucuses on Feb. 9, getting at least 22% of the straw poll and quite likely a larger percentage of the delegates at stake. Today is a second round of Washington voting, this time in the state primary. So if you’re in the Evergreen State, get out and vote for Ron Paul — the revolution marches on!

The Ron Paul Revolution in Ohio

Monday, February 18th, 2008

The Newark, Ohio Advocate reports on the development of Liberty Central, a Ron Paul education center in the Buckeye State:

NEWARK — More than 20 people crowded into the small room at 2 N. Park Place on Sunday to hear and support a message most of them believed has been lost.

“It is about getting the American people to come together to hold our congressmen accountable,” said Jody Jooss. “We are hoping this can be an area in the community where people can go for resources and education and to try to take our country back.”

And for the next two weeks that means one thing to the supporters of Liberty Central — supporting U.S. Rep. Ron Paul in the bid for the presidential nomination.

“The only person (running for president) who defended the Constitution was Ron Paul,” Jooss said.

Kudos to our Ohio supporters — and read the rest of the story here.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Listens to Ron Paul

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

A very good article by Erich Roden in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on-line:

… Eight years of neoconservatism have brought us nothing but disastrous foreign policy decisions, a looming recession and a monstrous deficit.

Are these the acceptable consequences of a transformed political right? Not if you ask Ron Paul. Running as “the true conservative” among the Republican candidates, he is a de facto libertarian. Unlike the competition, his message is clear and simple: more liberty, less government.

Paul blames our economic decline on the intrusion of government in the markets and foreign investment in our banking institutions. The Federal Reserve is dumping millions back into the economy, thereby weakening the dollar. China and Saudi Arabia are following suit by investing in our banks to give out more loans to fuel our runaway spending. Isn’t runaway spending the same tactic we used to bankrupt the Soviets during the Cold War?

Paul takes an unpopular, Jeffersonian stance on foreign policy: Stay out of others’ affairs. He acknowledges that Iraq is worse off and our focus in the war on terror is on the wrong country or countries.

Texas Early Voting Starts in Five Days

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

Jean McIver, our Texas Field Coordinator, sends this important message about early voting in Texas, which begins Feb. 19:

Early Voting for our Texas Primary begins Tuesday, February 19, and ends February 29. Be sure to get your Voter Registration Card stamped when you vote — this is our “ticket” to our Precinct Conventions on the evening of March 4th. We must have Delegates and Alternates elected in every Precinct to have a voice in the Republican Party Convention Process — it begins in our Precincts.

Primary Election Day is Tuesday, March 4. (This is your “Official Ron Paul Revolution Permission Slip” to take the day off and assist folks in getting to the polls to vote for Ron Paul!)

You can also help Ron Paul’s Texas effort by becoming a Precinct Leader. (And if you’re in another state with an upcoming primary or caucus, we need you to become a Precinct Leader too. Even in states that have already voted, Precinct Leaders can help by making calls into states with upcoming contests — as well as by continuing to organize their own states. Sign-up and help Dr. Paul carry on his fight!)
