“Ron Paul may affect precinct elections”
The Coeur d’Alene Press reports on the situation in Idaho as they get ready for their primary next week. It’s understandable to a degree that many long-time Republican activists are worried about Ron Paul supporters coming in, not that there’s any validity to their concerns that we’re just there to interfere, of course, but because enthusiasm among Republican activists is something that hasn’t been seen for a long time, and many don’t quite know how to deal with it.
Some will see us as a threat and be concerned; some will welcome us and the open dialogue that we seek, and some will actively fight us, as we’ve already seen. As to whether or not there’s any truth to the beliefs of some that Dr. Paul is just a flash-in-the-pan and that we won’t stick around to actually to do the work necessary, well… it’s up to us to dispel that notion once and for all.

Hi Matt,
I think you have the wrong link for the story. It is the one from the previous story about McShame’s lobbyist connections.
May 21st, 2008 at 4:07 pm
You are so right, Matt. We HAVE to stick together and prove that we are not going to roll over and play dead again. Many are suggesting that we fracture, and start supporting other parties candidates. While I understand their frustration, and the prevailing feelings of hopelessness with the idea of taking back the GOP, it is imperative that everyone keep in mind that this battle has merely begun. It took a VERY long time for this country to get as far gone as it has, and the battle will not be easy, nor will it be quick.
The establishment is counting on us to fracture. They are counting on us to split off, and go many different directions, rendering us totally ineffective. We have to resist doing that. THEY are the ones who either need to follow OUR lead, and allow the GOP to get back to its roots, or THEY need to leave. Keep fighting the good fight everyone. We CAN make a difference. The establishment is already running scared, as evidenced in the many state conventions. The positive outcome of these negative events is that regular Joe-Republicans who are not supporters of Ron Paul are seeing the underhanded and un-democratic tactics being employed by the people in power. They are put off by it, just as we are. In the end, their tactics will work to our benefit, but only if we don’t back down.

Heather D:
Are there very many regular Joe-Republicans who are not supporters of Ron Paul seeing the underhanded and un-democratic tactics being employed by the people in power? I haven’t seen much reported in the main stream media on the Nevada state convention being suspended, or on any of the other state GOP conventions being conducted by the party without following their own rules EXCEPT by reading the Daily Dose. I try to tell as many people as I can about what I’ve read on the Daily Dose - many are interested but few are aware of what has been happening at the various state conventions. And many Republicans I talk to aren’t happy with McCain being the presumptive nominee - I even talked to a guy who was a Guiliani supporter that didn’t want to vote for McCain in the primary with Guiliani already having dropped out.
May 21st, 2008 at 4:28 pm
We are working hard here in NC for the upcoming State Convention in June. All Paul supporter Republicans need to be committed to influence the party now as much as possible and be looking to revive it with new and dynamic leadership that will bring out that silent majority of support that was evidenced when Ronald Reagan won in 1980.
There is no other viable party to stick with and we also know that if good people do not involve themselves in their party of choice then bad and corrupt individuals will. The lure of government power has spoiled many a soul but for sure attracts those already evil powermongers when they see easy pickings when good people throw their hands up and quit. This is exactly what evil people want good people to do.
Saving America is a must! The price we must pay today pales in comparison to that of our founders. If we do not rise to the challenge of our time with a sufficient level of committment to peacefully recapture our lost freedoms we, or future generations, will have to pay a much higher and horrible price.
It is natural that we will experience some resistence and suspicions. Many of us in this movement do not know our “way around” yet and need to be brought up to speed as to how things are best run. Learning the rules of operation do not require us to compromise our principles or the Republican Party platform.
We must never forget that education needs to precede all political activity and that an ignorant and uninformed people have always been made slaves. Use the internet, talk to and communicate with other registered Republicans in your neighborhoods in between elections - expand your network - excite others to become a part of the cure - explain our mission to others who care. Americans must want less government for there to become less governemnt and we must show them why it is imperative we have less governemnt.
Three committed people per precinct, committed to the mission, will change the Party nationwide and give hope that all of politics hasn’t lost its mind! Go Paulites everywhere!
May 21st, 2008 at 4:41 pm
Scott,
I agree that the media is not doing their jobs and reporting on this, however, those republicans who are active in the party, and attending the conventions, are seeing first hand what is going on. There were some links to some articles in recent days, where non-Paul people were VERY angry at the way the establishment ran the different conventions. While the media might not report it, those who were present were angry, and this makes them more apt to HEAR us out.
Now that the link to the article is fixed, I would like to say, isn’t it kind of funny that the non-Paul person who was interviewed for this story said that a Constitutionalist is NOT a Republican? Do you suppose she feels stupid about having said that?

Can we counter the neo-Nazi plant in Idaho with something like the John McKKCain?
May 21st, 2008 at 6:00 pm
Julie Chadderdon, the Region 1 chair of the Idaho Republican Party, said “They’re not Republicans. They’re Ron Paul supporters… We are not talking about people who have been part of the process. We’re talking about people who are trying to interrupt the process.”
Boy, do we have our work cut out for us, folks! I guess those who show up to ensure that a few people don’t make all the decisions, which are subsequently rubber stamped by party loyalists are not part of the process. We are interrupting their rubber stamping activities and making them think and work. We are making them defend their positions, and they are failing. As Heather D pointed out, this same woman said that Constitutionalists are not Republicans. So, her argument is that Republicans are against the Constitution? She’ll have some backpeddaling to do on that one!
Sooner or later, they’ll all realize that we are the unifiers, not the insurgents. We are the ones trying to rally the party to our common conservative principles, while they are willing to toss them out the window in the name of party unity. We are some of the hardest working volunteers in the political realm today, yet they want to exclude us from their big tent - even those of us who have been Republicans all along. For our nation’s sake, I hope they figure it out sooner rather than later. People like this woman in Idaho, though, seem to indicate it will take a long time - possibly longer than we have before America is unrecognizable.

I’ve noticed quite a lessening of Ron Paul exposure here in Canada. Not sure if it’s the same down there but I’m quite unnerved that the paulites are giving up. I truly hope this is not the case. I would offer my support if I could but I’m not American unfortunately. I truly applaud your efforts and I’m following the elections quite fervently as the results will affect us up here as well. I truly hope you will keep your voices loud and clear and shout from all the rooftops you can climb because this word needs to get out. Remain a thorn in their side!! I’m truly outraged at the voting process you currently have. It seems like no matter who the people vote for, the super delegates (who are most likely all CFR members) will choose the next president and do what it takes for the NWO to move forward. It looks beyond reasonable doubt that your votes are being hijacked, no matter if it’s paper, or electronic. If there’s a will, there’s a way they will steal your votes or move it the way they want and there doesn’t seem to be a thing anyone can do about it. I truly hope I’m wrong on this. Ron becoming the president will be the only way to stop this insanity and give the American people back their rights to vote and be heard. God bless you all and fight the good fight of faith!!

I always wondered what our Canadien and Mexican neighbors think of the NAU. Take heart leena, we’re not giving up. I think the NWOers are in for a shock when they wake up in January and there are a bunch of Ron Pauls in Congress and the Congressional rubber stamping is a little harder to do. Even more so in 2011 after another wave of Ron Pauls arrives in DC. Anyway, I live in Washington state and our convention is next weekend about 10 minutes from Idaho in Spokane. Unfortunately my wife was not elected as a delegate to go. So I just decided to become a free-lance journalist and I emailed some questions to the state party chairman about the big event. My favorite question was how is the party preparing for a possible take over by the RP supporters. I ended with this: Which of the 5 remaining candidates (Clinton, McCain, Nader, Obama, and Paul) do you feel is best for America and why? These are things MSM doesn’t think (or want) to ask. Instead of bobbleheads telling me who to vote for they should tell me why. But that’s not what they get paid to do. Just smile and read the teleprompter Chad. I would love to hear why the WSRP chairman thinks McCain is the best for America. Assuming I get a reply. As soon as I do I will submit the article to papers across Washington.

My response to the chair of the Idaho Republican Party would be that if most Republicans (and Democrats)were Constitutionalists, as they should be, the country wouldn’t be facing the mess we are currently in.
Heather:
I’m glad that many that are active in the party are seeing what is going on, but if more of the typical uninvolved voters knew what was going on there would be many more voting for Ron Paul. I was talking to a woman in her 70’s last weekend and she mentioned she was really concerned about the high price of gasoline and said that it may improve after the election in November. I responded that if McCain, Hillary, Obama are elected don’t expect anything to improve much, then started telling her about Ron Paul. Through this conversation I found out that she was a life-long Republican, who had voted for Bush twice but was totally unhappy with the current state of our country and the big-government, big-spending Republicans in the House and Senate, and the Bush administration. She was not aware that Ron Paul was still in the race fighting for delegates to the National convention, nor the suspended Nevada state convention and other happenings at the other GOP state conventions. By the end of our conversation, I would put her down as a vote for Ron Paul in November (our primary was last month).
Then just today, I was telling a friend who voted for Ron Paul in the primary about what was going on in Nevada and other state Republican conventions and she hadn’t heard anything about it either. Somehow the uninvolved masses need to hear what is going on if we want to restore our country to its Constitutional roots. Telling people that we supporters run into helps but many more would respond positively to Ron Paul’s candidacy if they were to accurately hear about it, and the way the Republican party establishment is conducting themselves this election year.
May 21st, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Scott,
I agree with you wholeheartedly. While the GOP establishment continues to cut off it’s nose to spite it’s face, by destroying itself from within, it is up to us to get creative and find ways to expose their dirty tricks. Obviously we will not have the assistance of the MSM… However, Josh Goodin is a prime example of what we can do to “out-maneuver” our adversaries… He revealed in a post above that he is now working as a free-lance journalist. This is the sort of thing that will get the real story out. (I applaud him for his initiative.)
We all need to learn to “think outside the box”, and find creative ways to make our voices heard. For anyone who might be reading this, a few of us who frequent this blog are trying to come up with ideas on things we can do when issues such as these (informing the public, voting anomalies etc….) come up. If you’re interested, or have any ideas on how we might affectively address some of these pressing issues, please use the email drdave4ronpaul@earthlink.net

I have a question in regard to the delegates that are voted on or chosen at the state conventions to go to the national convention. Do the committees who choose the delegates have information about each one as to whom they support? What do these committees, if voting isn’t done from the floor, go by to select the delegates to go on to the national convention? As I have said, I didn’t get into the delegate selecting process here in Texas, since it all started the same night at the primary, and I was ill, and even though I have always voted, I’ve never been involved in the political process. I’m just surprised that at each state convention so far, everyone seems to know which candidate everyone else is for. And in most cases, a slate of pre-selected delegates is brought in, so I’m just wondering what information is used to pre-select these delegates. And also, I get the impression that some Paul delegates are going to the state conventions advertising by their clothes, pins, etc. Is that necessary or even wise? I know, that was more than one question, but I would like to be enlightened. Thanks.

I totally agree with Heather. We have to keep fighting and doing. I looked on my local meet-up group webpage and found 3 people willing to run for Republican central committee for our county. I got permission to make a small flier with their names on it and walked around my block leaving the fliers. I figure that if people see their names and the fact that they are for less taxes and no war, they might remember their names and vote for them in June’s election.

I’ve started writing Ron Paul for president on all of my paper money. Currency changes hands regularly so this will get the name out. IT will also be a slap in the face to the federal reserve and the nwo politicians. Let this part of the revolution begin.
I hope this effort has gotten support for Ron Paul in my area. It will definitely help get his name out.

Use children’s ABC rubberstamps for your own
personal touch and rubberstamp Ron Paul on all envelopes
before they go into the mail. Add a Ron Paul sticker.
It’s a great way to brighten your monthly stack of bills.
Or have your own made….Google Ron Paul or…
Recycle…Mail back your junk mail postcards that have
prepaid postage. Add a bold blue sticker and Ron Paul stamp.
In the name and address space they provide for you,
invite the folks to endorse Ron Paul. They certainly expect a reply,
or they wouldn’t be sending the invitation to join or buy,
or whatever…be sure and ask them to check back with you.
The junk mail business may not be real happy with you.
But a postcard is handled by a lot of people.
Keep at least a small RP sign in your window,
and I have a Ron Paul button on my purse. I really don’t
get out a lot, but people at the grocery store and around our
little town do comment…are surprised RP is still running.
Our Riverside Press Enterprise is owned by the Belo Family
of Texas. Ron Paul has been a non entity in this newspaper.
They mentioned his name three times, I was able to find,
since the start of the election push.
Made my heart skip a beat when
I recently spotted a Ron Paul sign in a yard several blocks
from us. I took a picture of our signs in our windows,
and will drop copies bye our Patriotic neighbors.
Well…just thought I would share these ideas with you.
I have been doing these ‘whacko’ things for some time now.
My family can hardly wait ’til I get ‘really old!’

Matt - I would like to suggest an idea for a topic.
From Ron Paul’s Foriegn Policy for Freedom, his September 4, 2002 speach against proceeding to war in Iraq is absolutely perfect. (The whole book demonstrates his non-stop effort and commitment). My suggestion is to post that speach he gave to congress here. A national press release looking back, toward our future, and to the present would be great too.
This speach clearly demonstrates his knowledge of what was going to happen, and ultimately did happen, put us where we are, etc. Hindsight is 20-20 and absolutely none of the other candidates can claim they predicted this mess, fought to oppose it, explained why it was unconstitutional, and how it would ultimately result in the economic situation, oil prices, etc. that we face today.
Those who have read this book, realize exactly how long Dr. Paul has been fighting this battle all alone. Us 1,000,000+ new-bes need to help him from here on out. Thank you Dr. Paul.
Thank you Matt for considering this.

You truly ARE a GREAT Patriot! You go, girl! Those are wonderful ideas to share the RP message and I’m going to put them into practice immediately. I invite others to do the same. Patty - There was a conversation on another thread about the write-in votes. As I told someone else earlier, most states’ deadline for filing the paperwork is prior to the GOP National Convention. Since we are still working toward the GOP nomination, there will probably be no publicity on this from the official campaign. However, the grassroots are working on this! Here’s a reply I got from ‘Linda’ on this topic:
Robert.Gavula@gmail.com is the person working on collecting write-in information. See below -
In NJ, a write-in candidate for President must submit a declaration of candidacy for him/herself and a list of 15 pledged electors to serve in the Electoral College, should the candidate win the election. I believe we will have no shortage of willing electors, and I would like to have someone coordinate the collection of the necessary signatures and notarizations.
I plan to collect the required documentation from our various state volunteers by early July, and deliver everything to Dr. Paul’s office in Washington for him to complete and submit.
In the meantime, I ask each supporter to make a strong push to recruit at least 2 new people who will be willing and eager to write-in Ron Paul for President in November. It is important that we continue to deliver Dr. Paul’s message and reach new people who will in turn do the same. We have 6 months to build momentum for the General Election.

-sigh- Where were these “six in 10 adults” on their respective primary days, when they could have voted for Ron Paul and gotten what they wanted…DONE DEAL?!? Plus, they could have gotten a strong currency and lower gas prices, to boot!
“In a CBS News/New York Times poll in late April, six in 10 adults said they want the next president to end the war in the next year or two. Almost that many said the United States erred in starting the war. Three quarters said it was more important that the next president stay flexible about when to withdraw troops than to remain committed to winning the war.”

Otherwise, Vote RON PAUL!!! Freedom Force Leader!!!”
Or something along those lines.

Im on the fence on this one. While its important to give time/energy to a cause you believe in, if the framework is one in which your ideas will be lost, you are giving your time/energy to something you dont believe in, and then you are part of the problem. Thats why I keep contact only with the groups I want to form a part of, the RLC for instance, and avoid the “general” fund raising for neo-con x stuff. I dont need to stomach some hamburgers in order to eat steak later. Its counter-productive, you lose energy on what you dont want.
Perhaps its time we started distinguishing ourselves a little more. Instead of being RP Republicans, maybe we ought to start calling ourselves the Federalist-Republicans or the Constitutional-Republicans.

This is off topic but I just received the following e-mail that I felt I should make this community aware of. This is VERY serious.
Subject: International Travel: Laptop Computers/Blackberries – U.S.
Customs Searches
On April 21, 2008, an opinion was filed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th District affirming the broad authority U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (a.k.a., U.S. Customs, CBP) possesses with regard to searches.
BACKGROUND
The background of the case involves a U.S. traveler returning from an overseas trip. When the traveler retrieved his luggage and proceeded through the CBP checkpoint, the traveler was stopped and questioned about the nature of his journey and CBP proceeded to search his luggage. Within the traveler’s luggage was a notebook computer, an external hard drive, USB flash memory and CD-ROM disks. CBP requested that the traveler turn on his computer to show that it was functional. CBP noted on the desktop a number of icons and folders. CBP proceeded to open the folders and discovered material deemed prohibited for entry into the U.S. and, as a result, seized the notebook computer, an external hard drive, USB flash memory and CD-ROM disks. Two weeks later, federal agents obtained a warrant. A grand jury subsequently charged the traveler with three counts of various violations of interstate and foreign commerce statutes. The traveler argued that the U.S. Government conducted a search without reasonable suspicion. The U.S. District Court upheld the traveler’s argument; however, on appeal, citing case law examples regarding the interpretation of the 4th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the 9th District Court of Appeals reversed the U.S. District Court’s opinion concluding that “reasonable suspicion is not needed for customs officials [CBP] to search a laptop or other electronic storage devices at the border.”
IMPLICATIONS
It is clear that 9th District Court of Appeals opinion affirms that CBP has very broad scope of authority when applying the Border-Search Doctrine. Travelers crossing U.S. borders MUST assume CBP’s right to search without suspicion.

Santiago - unfortunately, these-days, if you call yourself “constitutional” anything, the media AND the public equate that with “right-wing nut job”.
It’s absurd, isn’t it? The psychological programming of the last 20 yrs. or so was so profound that “Constitution” is slang for “terrorist”.
Call yourself a “dedicated Republican” and nod your head if you’re asked any questions…get a delegate spot, and vote for Ron Paul in revolt.

Ive got a novel idea.
Why doesnt Ron Paul unite us? Weve made his book a best seller, weve given our time, our money and our loyalty. I understand you believes in the power of the idividual, but so do I.
We need a leader to lead. I want to hear MY PRESIDENT give marching orders.
Whats the next step? Dr. Paul, we arent leaving, so give us a plan and inspire your base to continue this revolution. Sometimes we need to hear it from the top down.
I still love ya no matter what your decision is. My 2c…
Im hoping he declares an independent bid after the convention. We supporters would unite like the Revolutionary war and Im sure he could raise about $50M within a month of announcing. He does have a best selling book too…
Ill keep praying.

Thank you, so many of you,
for the kind comments and the thumbsup.
I want to share my favorite junk mail with you.
Received a letter from Hillary. She was offering me
a chance to join her campaign and MAKE HISTORY…LOL!
Included in the packet was a postage paid envelope for my contribution.
She obviously expected a reply. Well, it wouldn’t be polite not to RSVP.
I couldn’t resist this golden opportunity to make her a counter offer.
So I wrote Hillary a nice letter and thanked her for her generous invitation,
but told her I HAVE ALREADY MADE HISTORY.
I wrote her our Family are proud MONEYBOMBERS for PAUL!
THE RON PAUL REVOLUTION.
And then I told her it isn’t too late for her
to join the rEVOLution.
I included the website, stickers and rubberstampings.
There’s not always time to do these things.
Stamping and decorating postcards with RP and flag stickers
is a project the Children and Grandchildren love to do.
Someone, awhile back, said to be sure
and carry your Book, the other Good Book, so people can see it.
One more thing.
We all need to challenge these voting machines locally.
Keep after registrars until you get paper ballots, hand counted.
Such differences in various precincts when the machines are used
compared to percentages when paper ballots are hand counted.
There’s a lot to the old saying that
all politics is/are local.
You are so great! Keep up the good fight!
Write in Ron Paul.

Tim that link says a lot about the way the media have controlled the entire process. The media do not want to change anything in any meaningful way -’our sponsors would not allow that’. There is a force stronger than the media sponsors, and that is media customers. And the customer (not the sponsor) is always right.
Therefore we can switch from the media to the internet, which is better in terms of freedom. We can have discussions about the issues that McCain and Obama will not talk about, over the internet. This is called ‘product substitution’.
Let’s make 2008 the last US Presidential Election, where the corporate media controls the thinking and analytical functioning of the people. One small step every day is progress.
And let’s start by asking exactly what McCain or Obama think about currency inflation, foreign misadventures, the infrastructure problem, the immigration problem, crime, public debt, private debt, state debt, city debt, Federal debt, etc…. The discussion can take place on the internet. Ron Paul can participate and we can leave blank spaces to enter in all sorts of ’statements’ from the other two candidates. People can make up their own minds. The technology is present - utube !!
It would provide a refreshing alternative to the media sound bites, and candidates ’statements’ (which are usually bland, boring, and empty in any case)…. what is election strategy anyway, but a series of posturing, declaring, promising, lying, pretending, evading, etc….The media wants everybody to beleive that this is normal, and that issues are irrelevant.
The “Hope Pope”, and “SoldierGramps” are both snake oil salesmen/frauds !!

Off Topic: Write In Votes and the Electoral College?
I’ve been trying to research how writing in Dr. Paul in November would work with the electoral college, and so far, I haven’t had much success in finding anything about how electors would represent (or not) write-in candidates.
I was taught to vote my conscience, not just who I think can win, the lesser-of-the-evils, or who has the best chance to beat the candidate I dislike most. In good faith, I can NOT vote for the 3 major media candidates:
Barack “we can create a new $$$ government program to fix the problem!” Obama,
Hillary “I was at the center of almost every White House controversy when my husband was Pres” Clinton, or
John “the warmonger, Bomb-bomb-bomb Iran” McCain.
With regards to electors, 48 states are winner-take-all. Suggestions on what to do?
I guess it’s time to pray for a miracle.

The Federal Reserve is part of the problem not the solution!
Sign and forward the Ron Paul Is Right: Abolish the Federal Reserve Petition at
http://www.petitiononline.com/fed/petition.html to all your pro-freedom friends and associates.
The collapsing dollar, falling housing market, the subprime mortgage and growing credit crisis and stock market weakness are all a result of earlier Federal Reserve actions designed to maximize Wall Street and banking profits at the expense of productive, working Americans.
