Campaign for President of the United States

Voter ID expanded

The precinct leader program has now been expanded so that if you sign up, you can call voters in Nebraska (May 13 primary), West Virginia (May 13 primary), and Idaho (May 27 caucus). These are voters that have been identified to have characteristics that indicate they could vote for Dr. Paul, and this may be the single biggest thing you can do to help Dr. Paul in these upcoming states.

I really, truly wish I was legally old enough to help in a truly Freedom Representative fashion. I do my best as I am now, of course, to spread the word of liberty… but how many people would listen to a sixteen year old? After all, my opinion counts for nothing in this Presidential race, which is unfortunate. And what do I know? I classify myself as a Republican, and those “dirty Republican warmongers” are the bane of Freedom.

Ironic, that the current state of front-running Republicans is in such a way that they should be running for Democrat/Socialist/Marxist, not Republican.

Even though I think he is also corrupt, if I *had* to pick on of the Media’s darlings, I would pick Obama. He seems to be the most honest and least corrupt out of all of them (even though he still lies and has special interests…) aside from Congressman Ron Paul.

I suppose I should get to the point. He’s right, we really need to make some calls to the folks in Idaho, West Virginia, and Nebraska. We need to get the word of constitutionalism and restoration of the True Republic out to them. They need to be enlightened if they do not already know. The future of the United States hangs by a thread, but we march with iron-clad, impenetrable freedoms that shall never be relinquished, nor forsaken. Hold hope!

The good news is that there are more Congressman Paul supporters than the media and our brainwashed minds would have us believe.

I don’t watch television any more… nor war movies, and I certainly don’t trust everything in news papers. It’s all a circus. Nothing of importance. Clinton scandal this, Hillary Clinton that; and hoorah, Brad Pitt is in a new movie!

It’s all a show of fireworks. They try to distract you from important issues by pounding nonsense and propaganda into your head. They’ll tell you anything you want to hear, and/or anything the government wants you to hear. The White House was bought and sold a long time ago, at fault of previous generations of mislead people that chose not to rise, but to succumb to the government, to succumb to the elimination of the gold standard, the Bill of Rights, and the Constitution, and to remain willfully ignorant. Repent to God? You need to repent to yourselves, to your future generations whom you left a mess larger than a garbage dump to clean up with their bare hands.

My favorite bit of propaganda as of late was “The Iraq War,” which is unconstitutional by the way, “has been a huge success, as a result of Bush and Petraeus’ ingenious idea of a troop surge.” I laughed so hard I started to cough like a twenty year smoker. They lie to you about how many troops have died, and they lie about how many troops are over there. I can’t wait for the inevitable World War III should George W. Bush decide to bomb Iran. Oh, and did I mention that the Bush family’s wealth originates not from oil, but from finances with Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich regime? I kid you not, look it up yourself. Makes me sick. The Bush family should be charged with multiple counts of treason, fraud, and other various war crimes, but of all things, they have been in the White House *three* times! And, if McCain gets elected, aside from torturing prisoners of war, it will be just the same as having Bush for a third term.

I love it when people talk about the United States as being “the Land of the Free”… Germany, the major host of two major world wars within the span of fifty years, has more freedom that we, and they are hardly permitted to have a standing army or say “Heil Hitler!” without getting harassed by the authorities.

Wake up, America, or we’ll slap you awake.

I have long been aware that West Virginia is ripe for the picking by Dr. Paul. Many voters here want an alternative to the three corporate candidates being promoted by the media. I have written several emails to the campaign begging them to make a campaign appearance in our state. There is no way we can make enough phone calls to make a difference, because many voters think Dr. Paul has dropped out. Even radio personalities, Bob and Tom, said it was “cute” that so many people had voted for someone who had already withdrawn after last weeks Indiana primary.I realize West Virginia may not be a major market, and probably doesn’t have a Barnes and Noble big enough to sponsor a book signing, but we are real people who respond quite favorably when it appears someone actually cares about us, and not just looking for a photo op or a sound byte… ro maybe an excuse to promote your latest book. I realize Congressmen can be busy people, but West Virginia is an afternoon ride from Washington. THAT RIDE could be the most important thing YOU could do for us here in the streets of West Virginia.

I’ve called in to the West Virginia state-wide radio show Talkline several times to let it be known that Ron Paul is still in the race for president in the Republican primary. Since the WV Republican primary is Tuesday, May 13, would it be possible for Ron Paul to call in to Talkline tomorrow - the show runs from 10:00 A.M to 12:00 Noon (See www.wajr.com - Request Line: 304-296-0041) Let’s Gooooo Ron Paul Mountaineers!

Instead they are planning a revolt against John McCain in September! Once you link to the article you see a fabulous picture of the greatest congressman in history. Further down in the article is an excellent picture promoting this great statesman for president. I submitted a comment pointing out a typo in a statement saying that Ron Paul was correctly dismissed. The correct reading should be, Incorrectly dismissed. Hey everyone,

sorry for my hiatus (part of it has been due to what I will call “wanting to do a ton of things all at once”/”stress” and part of it has been due to oversleeping). Anyways, like HS, I too am now a precinct leader!!!! However, I am scared, nervous, and the like with regards to the responsibilities and executions of those responsibilities (i.e. I felt, at first, overwhelmed by it even though I have done some of these things in past campaigns [i.e. Michigan Coordinated Campaign for the 2004 Presidential election {note: I was not a John Kerry supporter — as far as the Democratic primary seasonn for that year was concerned; I was a Howard Dean supporter — this is true for a lot of the people that I worked with as well == I supported John Kerry over George W. Bush, though for obvious and not so obvious reasons, i.e. the infamous “Lesser of the two evils” syndrome psychology}]). Anyway’s, I was thinking that Ron Paul should set up a Headquarters workshop for the phone-banking/canvassing, canvassing, hosting of materials for people to use/buy, and so on. This could help with the training of new precinct leaders, such as myself and HS, as well as for people to conduct official Ron Paul business (as this thread states and implies). The Michigan Coordinated Campaign that I worked for in 2004 for instance rented an office space in Downtown Ann Arbor (for those Ron Paulites/Paulistas who are also native Ann Arborites, this was on the horizontal street diaganolly from the U.S. Post Office and that was next to a Martial Arts Studio and a Mexican Restaurant (I believe it was called Banditos, or something to that effect [it did start with the letter ‘B’ — that I am 110% certain!!!!). Anyways, I will get the phone # in terms of renting inquiries (there are also some other areas that have open space to be leased/rented as well — I will get the phone #’s for these as well). I think we should set up Headquarter, or at the vary least mini-headquarters sites all over the country, counties, cities/towns, capital’s well . . . you get the idea!!! I am very much interested in calling people in Idaho and other states that will have their primaries in the future!!! If anyone can help me, train me (or knows someone who can) please contact me ASAP. You can call me at my home phone #(734)-663-8991 (don’t have a cell phone # — for a variety of reasons!!!!). Or you can email me at (if this email adress is “erased” — then do this: go to http://www.umich.edu and go to a section called the “Online Directorÿ” and type in my name “Emre Kazan”. It will list my email address, among other things — then, you can now email me!!!!). Also, I bought the other Ron Paul book (it deals solely with foreign policy), as well!!!! I’ll talk to all of you later and more details will follow (relating to Keith Olberman, Bill O’Reilly, USA Today newspaper — to tantalize you and provide somewhat of a preview). I think that Ron Paul should go on Bill O’Reilly’s show (he would take him to the woodshed and/or take him to school, just like he did with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer!!!!), Bill Moyer’s show (on PBS stations), Charlie Rose (again, PBS stations), Keith Olbermann’s show (MSNBC), David Letterman show’s (CBS), Jay Leno’s show (NBC), Jimmy Kimmel’s show (ABC), The Late Late show with Craig Ferguson (CBS), Cup ‘O Joe (i.e. formerly known as Scarborough Country hosted by Joe Scarborough) (I want to say MSNBC, but I am not a 110% sure). These are just a few ideas!!!! These are not exhaustive by any means!!!! Anyway’s I will try to get back to my normal routine and post everyday!!!! I have said this before and I will say this again (Roy in AL, also share my view in this!!!!) Ron Paul should campaign, criss-cross and go all over the state for any given state X and stump and campaign actively the snot out of that area!!!! (see the threads on this by me and Roy in AL in the “North Carolina” section — I just don’t understand for the life of my why Ron Paul is not campaigning all over a given state (I agree with Roy in AL that Ron Paul could have gotten 50% of the vote in North Carolina easily if he had agressively campaigned all over North Carolina [this could also apply to Indiana as well] — I guess I am saying that I am very frustrated and don’t agree with National as it relates to campaigning — and how much of it Ron should do — within any given state!!!! I mean these latter two things in the sense of blunt, brutal, unabashed ****Sagittarian**** honesty and/or constructive criticism. If National takes offense to this (which they should be offended — ****HELL I ^WANT THEM^ TO BE OFFENDED AND TAKEN ABACK!!!!****) then I have three words for them: ****PROVE ME WRONG!!!!****

    very sincerely,

Senate loads war funding bill with domestic programs

By ANDREW TAYLOR, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 59 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Despite numerous veto threats, senators in both parties have loaded up President Bush’s war funding bill with a grab bag of domestic programs, including work permits for immigrant farm labor and heating subsidies for the poor.

The Senate was scheduled to begin debate on the measure Tuesday, just days after a key panel added more about $28 billion to Bush’s budget request for this year and next, with almost $50 billion more for a big expansion of veterans benefits under the GI Bill over 2010-2018.

The new GI Bill and Democratic priorities like extending unemployment benefits are simply the big-ticket add-ons, both of which have drawn veto threats. There’s also $50 million to track down child predators, $400 million to help rural schools and $350 million fight western wildfires, just for starters.

Senators are acting as if the war funding bill coming to the floor Tuesday is the last train leaving the station, and, as a result, have added billions of dollars for pet programs and hitched on several policy “riders” as well. Few if any other spending bills are likely to come before the Senate this election year, which makes the supplemental measure an even more attractive vehicle for carrying spending proposals that would stall otherwise.

The White House is fighting the add-ons much more vigorously than it did during last year’s bruising war funding debate. Then, it accepted $17 billion in spending that Bush didn’t ask for as the price for getting an Iraq war funding bill that didn’t tie his hands on the war.

Now that it’s clear that Democrats won’t insist on a troop withdrawal timeline, the White House is focusing on making sure the measure doesn’t exceed his request.

The Senate war funding bill combines $194.1 billion in spending over 2008-2009 for war funding, foreign aid, military base construction, heating subsidies and a variety of smaller items. Then there’s $14.5 billion to give 13 weeks of unemployment checks to people whose benefits have run out and $51.6 billion over 10 years to improve GI Bill benefits.

There’s $108 billion remaining from Bush’s war funding request for the 2008 budget year ending Sept. 30. But the White House appears willing to lump that request together with $70 billion to carry the war into next spring, as well as Bush’s $5.8 billion request to construct levees in Louisiana.

That puts Bush’s request at $183.8 billion — more than $10 billion below the Senate measure.

The immigrant farm labor provision added to the measure at a hearing last week by Sens Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and Larry Craig, R-Idaho, would allow almost 1.4 million immigrant farm workers to stay in the United States for up to five years to ease a shortage of farm workers that has left some crops rotting in the fields.

Sens. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., and Judd Gregg, R-N.H., followed that up with a provision to extend an expired program to allow seasonal workers to return to the country using H-2B visas.

Gregg, typically a fiscal conservative, voted with Democrats at last week’s hearing to adopt $1 billion worth of additional energy subsidies for the poor. That provision led top Appropriations panel Republican Thad Cochran of Mississippi — himself the driving force behind $1 billion for coastal restoration in Mississippi — to warn his colleagues that they were simply guaranteeing a Bush veto.

Still, Republicans such as Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas — a member of the Senate GOP leadership team — pressed ahead with add-ons of their own. Hutchison won approval of $100 million in grants to local law enforcement to fight drug trafficking along the U.S.-Mexico border.

It’s the type of situation White House budget director Jim Nussle had in mind last month when he chided senators for a “sky-is-the-limit mind-set” regarding “the desire of some in Congress to load up this troop funding bill with tens of billions in additional spending.”

Republican Sen. Kit Bond of Missouri moved to keep open three “veterans business resource centers” with $600,000 in taxpayer funds. One of the centers, naturally, is in St. Louis; the others were in Flint, Mich., and Boston.

    Supply, demand so unsatisfying
    T
alking about the “need” for more affordable housing or more affordable medical care is what will get politicians more votes this election year.
Voters don’t want to hear about impersonal things like supply and demand. They want to hear about how’their political heroes will stop the racals the villains from “gouging” them or “exploiting” them with high prices.
Moral melodrama is where it’s politically. Least of all do voters want to hear about the
fundamental reality of economics reality tha t what everybody wants has always ad up to more
    than there is.
That is called scarcity— and if ther were no scarcity, there would be no economics. What would be the point, if w could all have everything we want, in whatever amount we want?
A politician with good rhetorical skills can create a new garden of Eden in peoiple’s minds, though only in their minds. However, that is sufficient, if that vision or lilusion can be kept alive untli election day, and its failure to materialize afterward can be explained away by the obstruction of villains.
One of the many ironies of politics is that those politicians who do the most to reduce supply often express the great outrage about high prices.
Make a list of those politicians who most loudly lament the lack of “affordable housing.” Then make a list of tho politicians who have most consistently promoted restrictions on the building housing, under the banner of “open space” laws, “farmland protection” polocies, preventing “urban sprawl,” and other politically soothing phrases.
Do not be surprised at seeing the same folks on both lists.
Is it really too “complex” to figure a that taking vast amounts of land off the market will make the price of the remaining land far more expensive? Or that houses built on very expensive land will be be very expensive housing?
So long as politicians can get some people’s votes by publicly feeling their pain when it comes to housing costs, other people’s votes by restricting thi building of housing, they can have a winning coalition at election time, which is their bottom line.
Economists might point out that to different members of this coalition have conflicting interests that could be best resolved through competition in the marketplace. But how many economists have ever put together a winning coaliation? So long as voters prefer heroes villains to supply and demand, this game will continue to be played. It is not be cause supply and demand is too “con plex” to understand, but because it is emotionally satisisfyng.
