Missouri

Many of your fellow Ron Paul supporters in Missouri had to attend “credentials hearings” yesterday to prove that they were “true Republicans” so that they could keep the delegate status they had earned in earlier Missouri Republican meetings.  The first thing that pops up in your mind is probably the first thing that popped up in mine - we are the true conservatives, and the principles we defend are the core ideas of the Republican Party.

The online edition of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch ran two stories on yesterday’s events, which you can find here and here.  If you know any Ron Paul delegates in Missouri, perhaps you can send along an encouraging note.

If anything, these events should remind us that the task before us is going to take an immense amount of dedication and perseverance.  The neoconservatives did not suddenly hijack the Republican Party - they put in the time, made the connections, laid the groundwork, and slowly took over.  For us to reclaim the Party, we’re going to have to be every bit as patient, but every bit as unrelenting in our resolve.

    Matt–the first thing that popped into my mind was: outrage. I’ve voted only Republican for many, many years. I have supported candidates based on my assessment of how well they represented my core principles. I haven’t changed. I have never had to explain myself to the Party leadership, and I shouldn’t have to, now.

    It is the Republican Party that has become “extreme”—or at least the controlling factions of the party. You are right. It is time to take back the Republican Party!!

    I am a recently converted Democrat. Not because I want to disrupt the Republican Party, but because Dr. Paul has helped me see the Democrats as the Socialists they are. For years I have referred to myself as a “Truman Democrat” and have been waiting for a leader to rise up and take the Dem Party back from the leftists. I’ve waited long enough. Dr. Paul has shown himself to be a courageous leader in the Republican Party, trying to take it back from the neo-cons.

    So, am I now being told by the leadership of the GOP that they don’t want to draw new voters to their party? Are they saying that I am less than a “true” Republican because I’ve only recently changed parties?

    Did they feel the same about Ronald Reagan?

    America does not have the time for long multiple presidential election cycles to regroup. She will fail shortly, as Ron Paul states calamity is just around the corner and nobody in Washington seas or even is looking for the problems, let alone the solutions.

    America needs answers now not when or if the GOP is returned to core values. American needs Ron Paul to go 3rd party and try to win nationally. Democrats, Republicans and other groups are ready to follow, enough to win a 3 way race in November. The GOP is hell bent on distroying the Ron Paul revolution and quite successful at the state delegate level.

    There was an article on the fox website the other day that referred to a Congressional Candidate in Indiana that the GOP wants to “go away”. According to the MSM and the GOP, this man is a neo-Nazi. Now, I haven’t researched this man (I can’t even remember his name) so I don’t know if the claims are valid. I do find it very ironic that the GOP wants the electorate in Indiana to vote against this man, even if he makes it through to the general election. In the case of this would-be Congressman, the party liners WANT dissenters, and if the Republican voters vote for a different party in that case, the GOP would not see that as being disloyal.

    I find that a bit ironic. In the case of Missouri, the dissenters are opposing a liberal. The GOP finds it disloyal to oppose a liberal. John McCain considered changing parties several times in his career to Democrat, but the GOP feels that the Missouri delegates who oppose him are disloyal to the party…..

    My memory is not as good as it once was, but I believe that I have been a registered Republican all my voting life, though I have not always voted for the Republican candidate. If I lived in Indiana, I would not vote for a neo-Nazi, and I will not vote for McCain. If the GOP in Missouri, and across the country, insists on disenfranchising all Ron Paul Republicans, they just might be successful in nominating McCain, but he can’t win the general election without our support, and then they will have no choice but to listen to us.

    I hope the delegates in ALL the states realize that we are behind them every step of the way. Don’t give up, don’t back down. If the establishment sees weakness, they will turn up the heat. Show them your commitment to Liberty. Show them we are here to stay, and will not fade away if they try to bully us.

    The cat is out of the bag and there is no way of changing that. Ron Paul has worked too many years and too long on trying to fix things all by himself, and standing up for what is right often all alone. He now has a dedicated core group (~1,000,000) which is growing daily to help him and there is no chance of putting the cat back into the bag.

    Republican, Democrat, Independent, Green, Constitution, etc. represent absolutely nothing in comparison to Ron Paul Republicans.

    It is a truly great knowing that there is indeed Hope for America.

    Become a Delegate, a Precinct Leader, a Legislator; Support other Ron Paul Republicans, Demand change in our foreign policies, read/learn, etc. and continue this endeavor that Dr. Ron Paul has started.

    As is said above. The taking over of the GOP did not happen overnight. This has been going on for years! The “insiders”have been very patient and its one step at a time (or as the communists worked,two steps forward, one step back). The good thing is that many, many people are awake and waking and are fed up. I believe we still have time. Its not a popular thing to say but the voting franchise is very large. People consistently on welfare, food stamps, aid to dependent families, who pay no taxes, vote. If we have to go back to “Little House on the Prairie” to attain the limited constitutional government and personal responsibility, that’s a good thing, but many in the voting franchise will be hard to convince I think. No matter, we have to do it.

    I’m with Tim Minnesota. Dr. Paul should make a Libertarian run. These credentials hearings, as well as the bs in Nevada make it clear that those who hold the reins of the GOP are not about to give up control. Right now it seems like we’re making progress, but what happens when the primary is over and everyone goes back to sleep? All the energy, momentum, money and organization will dissapate and Dr. Paul will go back to Congress to lose more 434 to 1 votes. A Libertarian Party candidate has never before had this level of support, name recognition and momentum. It would be phenominal. The planets have lined up. Dr. Paul would win votes from disgusted small government Republicans and anti-war Democrats. Please don’t let this precious opportunity slip away.

    The Revolution is a big tent for everyone who is willing to stand for individual liberty and take personal responsibility. Remember, however, people will rarely if ever change their mind when you tell them a new idea. In fact, if they did then you should worry. Ideas are importnat things that should be carefully considered, measured and discussed. So tell your story then thank them for their time and wish them well.

    The seed never sees the flower. Keep your expectations low and spirits high!

    I totally agree with you. We are wasting valuable time and resources trying to “restore the GOP.” We would better use our time and money to see that the GOP is replaced by the Constitution Party or LP.

    Well it looks to me that if you can’t win fairly, CHEAT!!
    Any Paul delegate called in for credential checking should be allowed to appear with legal representation.
    Lets see how long this will go on when attorneys forcing legal transparency start to appear.
    You are allowed legal representation in this country, no matter what the case.
    And come to think of it All people are considered innocent and those making accusations must make prove them otherwise. Let’s see how much money the Republican credentials committee is willing to burn up on this witch hunt of theirs.

    I’m not sure what is meant by “cheating” - but it sounds bad. We want rule of law - and to be consistent (like Dr. Paul) we MUST use lawful means. Above reproach. An old saying goes, “If you wrestle a pig, you both get dirty, and the pig likes it.” As long as it’s just the pig’s dirt, we’re like the farmer. When it’s our dirt, it means we’re just another pig.

    I was just watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHDWk-Ry7jM&NR=1 and thought about that one day where 37,000 people participated in that money bomb for Ron Paul and got over $4million. Ron Paul is up in the age but if he is willing to run in 2012 I will make sure I have thousands to support him. I will be able to contribute the max. Now let’s see, if those 37,000 also were to contribute the max we will have over $85million in one day. No other Republican candidate will be able to beat that!

    We have a lot of people that backed down after super Tuesday and in some ways I do not blame them if they think it is a lost cause now. But we can make things still happen. And that was just one day. I wonder how many contributers gave to the campaign in total. Because if everyone just saves $11 a week they will be able to contribute the max next time. If I get any information that Ron Paul plans to run in 2012 I will be ready.

    Being successful will show everyone in the Republican party we are serious about what Ron Paul stands for. I have a feeling with just what we had we will all be much more ready next go around and could pull off something amazing. But really this will cause the revolution to grow immensely from that point on. It will bring in all kinds of support for other candidates.

    I hear that there is a major lawsuit by the Dems regarding J McCain’s money raising and breaking his own McCain - Feingold law.

    There is a great chance because of this that he loses the lawsuit and then must give back delegates a good number of delegates. Plus there’s little grassroots support for this phoney, he won’t get far. Remember he’s the Songbird.

    Ron wants to remain in this party. Support him, don’t splinter your efforts into different groups(Libertarian etc.)

    In the mean time, state legislatures go on break end of May. Check your state websites look up the Bills before your Govenor for signage and kill the bills that are unconstitutional with letter campaigns to your legislatures reps, senators by month’s end. I believe there is a letter you can use and modify that some meetups have. To name a few biils to kill: Real ID, Home Schooling-DCF(Dept of Children and Family will investigate you for homeschooling, the New Genetics Department - funding allocations..

    I and many others didn’t give up on the Revolution but we no longer could send money to the National Campaign because many of us thought there was gross mismanagement of the $35 million in donations. In essence, we saw the free market at work in the Ron Paul campaign.

    Legal proceedings will soon be brought against some GOP leaders. A former FEC Chairman has been hired on retainer to make sure such action remains legal in its call for donations and expenditures. Many lawyers are being sought for pro bono work to bring the cheaters to justice.

    In all the time I’ve spent around the other delegates and active “Republicans” I still haven’t heard a good word about McCain from anyone. The closest came at one meeting where it was announced (this is paraphrased), “Hey, our guy looks pretty good compared to Obama’s preacher!” The stated reason for the opposition to Ron Paul is the fear that he’ll “break up the party” and “we need solidarity if we’re going to win in November.” This is how it is on the local level around here, and it seems like that must be the case around the country, because the guy is such a terrible candidate. It seems that the “Republican” establishment around here is basically a social group without any interest in policy. There are never any discussions on issues beyond the attendence at the latest party sponsored fair. To them it’s more of a game of tug o’ war to be won, so they’ll just take what they’re given and pull blindly. The really bizarre thing is that McCain has gotten this far. The only reason I can imagine is that he has been around so long, and has “paid his dues” so there’s a sense of owing him the spot at the helm. It’s absurd, but what other possible reason could there be?

    I recently had an experience that I think illustrates this mindset. I got elected as a delegate at the county level. At the district convention I managed to get written onto a slate. Just before the nominations began a senior member of my county’s party (she was written onto a different slate) started badgering me to “decline my nomination” because I was “not being a team player”. She seemed to feel insulted that I was trying to “take her turn” at the national convention. It seems like that’s how the party looks at McCain, like it’s his turn, platform doesn’t enter into it.

    I would think between now and 2012 we would all be better prepared and could have our own vote on how the money should be spent. I was not very prepared for this election season but I will definitely be on the lookout to see if Ron Paul runs next time. I will be looking early and keeping up with him as much as I can for the next few years.

    People say mismanagement of funds and this might be true. However, I think Ron Paul used very little money himself on travels and is a very honest guy. And really when we are talking about carrying on through possibly to November or at least to the convention, the money has got to last and $35 million is not that much for an election like this.

    What if McCain gets fried for going over the $54million, and then Barrack and Hillary spend all their funds fighting each other, who is left… Ron Paul. We can not tell.

    I bought 5 of his new books today and I am giving 4 out as raffle winnings in a few weeks. They are back ordered.

    I don’ t see the actual stories posted here. Our guys weren’t even given the basis for the challenges even though they asked, giving them no time to prepare.     If I knew some non corporate attorneys I would ask them to help.
    I find it reprehensible that people that don’t represent the party are vilifying the folks that do, in secret at that.
    This was done by the NAZIS to get Germans to spy on their fellow citizens.

    I don’t understand how two dissimilar states can come up with the same end results.
    Is there something the million of us can do to take the media to take the media to task for ignoring us, and our candidate?

    This is frustrating the heck out of me.
    I ran into someone in Subway during lunch yesterday that told me he liked my button. I always wear a “I support Ron Paul” button. “Too bad he dropped out” he said.
    I wanted to scream and cry at the same time!!
    I politely told him that Dr Paul is still in the running, I then gave him my pin and some slimjims I had in my car.
    He thanked me for the information, and vowed to write in Dr Paul.
    Now if the folks running the write in campaign would tell me what I need to do to help get the good Dr on the write in ballot, I would be thrilled.
    I’ve emailed one person that said information is forthcoming.

    Do we need to clean our own house out before we can clean Washington out.

    Write-in campaigns are not going to work in a national election. Consider the issues with just primary elections. Ron Paul needs to win nomination at the Republican National Convention or go 3rd party. I know this year a 3rd party Ron Paul could win the White House. As economic conditions tank, Ron’s book is distributed, (actually better marketing than Ron’s campaign now), people discover Ron is still running or 3rd party Ron can get enough support to win.

    PS NATIONAL GET THE GIVING TICKER BACK UP AND RUNNING SO PEOPLE CAN SEE THE GIVING. THE CAMPAIGN IS NOT OVER UNTIL NOVEMBER.

    Can Ron Paul wait until after the MN convention to go 3rd party? IF he cannot go 3rd party Maybe he could run with Chuck Baldwin as VP. Hmmm? The Constitution Party. Chuck announced his bid for President this month. It’s official. He has been one of the biggest and most outspoken supporters of Ron Paul. Talk about getting that evangelical vote, he would be the man.

    Then again, Chuck could pick another Constitutionalist as VP (Ron Paul stays in Congress), then we would have 3 freedom lovers fighting for us in DC. We can’t lose.:)
