Government may be hesitant to fight the REAL ID battle

Montana has taken a bold stand by leading the fight against REAL ID. Now it seems that it may take the lead in another way - the federal government is showing hesitancy to directly confront the state over their refusal to comply with the Act.

Already, we are seeing how REAL ID is a de facto national id card. Sadly, many Americans will know nothing about this until they show up at the airports or to tour the Capitol building with their kids and find out that they don’t have the proper identification.

Dr. Paul warned against REAL ID back in 2005, and it is up to us to spread the word about how damaging this Act will be to our civil liberties.

Remember the old black & white WWII movies from the 40’s? The black uniformed NAZI thug backed up by five or six machine gun wielding SS goons would demand peoples ID papers. I remember the fear that would appear on the citizen’s face and I remember thinking, “Thank God this can’t happen in a free America!” I no longer believe it can’t happen in America.

Recently I ran across a set of four Ron Paul DVDs that tell you everything about why Ron Paul is the only choice for president. They are of various interviews by media such as Fox and cover all bases, economic, foreign policy, medical etc.. They are only 25 cents each ($1) and the total cost for the four including the shipping was as I recall a “steep” $2.78!! You can’t beat that. They are very lenghty (each a few hours) so you can’t watch even one DVD in a single sitting. You can find it by doing a google search Ron Paul DVDs or just click on www.ronpauldvd.com. I heartily recommend them to everyone including Ron Paul’s campaign managers! They are a real keepsake, even more valuable than Ronald Reagan’s old radio broadcasts and much cheaper too!!

For those interested in Executive Orders you can just google them. EO’s are all in numbered order. If you go to certain websites like the ones listed about fema camps and research the EO’s you will find that not all were written by the current administration. Most of the EO’s listed were written in the 1960’s. President Clinton during his time probably wrote 300. They are used to bypass Congress and are written for different reasons. If there are 12-30 million illegal aliens spread across the country and the US is pushing the government to do something about them would it be safe to assume they would need a place to hold them for processing? While Bush has made some mistakes in my opinion, most of these are the result of the publics acceptance and support, based on fear. It is only recently as the fear has subsided that it seems we have decided we really don’t want all the plans that were voted in place.

just trying to stay sane. :)

In defense of James Sensenbrenner: He was a very strong advocate in preventing the passage of a bill allowing citizenship to illegal aliens. He was absolutely tireless in that endeavor. Now, it may be that his pushing of the REAL ID Act is nothing more than a misguided effort to further insure that illegal aliens be denied the “creature comforts” of citizens. At one time, I myself fell into that catagory. Then I was awakened to the full implications of what the REAL ID Act would actually do. So please, commend him for his efforts to curb the illegal immigration nightmare, but enlighten him through correspondence about the full implications of the REAL ID Act to the Liberty of American Citizens. He may just not “see it” because of his dedication to stopping illegal immigration.

I hope someone who cares about the Ron Paul presidential election gets this email to Ron Paul. The issue of national defense is the one hindrance to Ron Paul presidential run. Everywhere I read about Ron Paul, people have an incorrect understanding of the constitution on protecting America and thus Ron Paul.

Ron has not articulated this issue very well if at all.

Ron must clearly articulate the constitutional position of letters of marquee and right of reprisal on coast to Coast Monday night. Also, explain CLEARLY without interruption how we could have avoided invading and destroying Iraq by applying the letters to Osama Bin Laden. CLEARLY explain you support spending $$$ on defending America, regrouping our military so depleted today they can hardly function. Other nations around the world have to start providing their own general defense.

Ron, CLEARLY explain how should CONGRESS declare war with you as president you would go to war kick the required Bu.. and get home, not stay around, and nation build.

Ron America is stuck not supporting you because of ignorance on our constitution. You have not CLEARLY articulated the constructional issue of defense or war when needed and your procession as directed by congress.

I do not like the national ID thing either, but lets also remember what Spitzer was trying to do in NY with their licenses.

Their idea was to give these licenses away to illegals, so that they could go and vote.
This disenfranchises ALL US citizens, by diluting their legal vote (even if you do not live in NY: say the illegals help a candidate win, whose party would not have without them. Congressional majorities could be affected, thus also non-NY voters).

It was the Real-ID act in part that opponent’s of Spitzer’s plan used to fight him on this.

I am not defending the act, but how do we address this issue in another, less invasive fashion?

Also, FAKE licenses are used to obtain public benefits such as schooling. How to prevent?
Please do not flame, but discuss reasonably, as we do need to find a way that people can be identified for certain things, the most important being the vote. Already today, there are people in office who were elected by a substantial number of illegal vote.
THAT is subversion of the will of the people in the most underhanded and nefarious way, and a direct threat to democracy.

Are they really taking away Americans jobs, or are the H1B Visa holders doing that? Denise,
When it comes down to it, both are taking away jobs. Most employers are going to hire whoever they can hire the cheapest. Whether an immigrant is here legally or illegally they are going to be making more money than they would have in their home country. But that wage (in many cases) is not considered a livable wage for a US citizen. So we are paying for the unemployed citizen through welfare entitlements and subsidizing businesses with taxes by providing free education, medical care and all other taxpayer provided benefits (fire, police, trash, etc.) to illegals. Many of these folks are willing to live in a substandard way by our standards, but it is still better than what they left. We are importing Third World poverty into the US.

There are only so many jobs to go around. Look at the unemployment rate and tell me there is a lack of people to hire. When it comes to the tech type jobs, yes, that one day may be the case. Why? Because our kids are no longer taking those studies because they know they will not be hired. Companies would rather import their workers at a substandard wage.

One more thing, the holder of an expired work visa is our next illegal alien. There is no system in place to track these folks to make sure they are leaving when they are supposed to be. Now that is a broke system!

Also, bringing in and allowing the continued flow over our borders is just part of the plan for the One World Order. Forced population growth and multiculturism. I don’t have a thing against other cultures, but if I want exposure to them I will read/study about them or go visit them. I don’t want it forced on me by my government to suit their agenda. And some of this forced on population is only reducing our country to the Third World country that they left. This is partially due to a too rapid increase of immigrants and they do not assimilate as they should. Our numbers of legal entry need to be reduced back down to the more traditional numbers of past years of around 250,000/year instead of 1 Mil +/year (then the 1Mil of illegal immigrants is added on top of that).

State Department Document 7277 from the year 1961, spelled out the plan for US military disarmament in a “peaceful world”. Drafted by CFR members in the State Department, the plan, approved by President Kennedy, called for the eventual unilateral disarmament of the United States, while transferring military power to the United Nations. This document became the announcement to the American public for Public Law 261 (as I recall) which is still the current law of the land as defined in the Code of Federal Regulations.

Have you ever wondered why we have been closing military bases, while eliminating atomic warheads and defense systems? PL-261 is your answer.

What most folks don’t see or realize is that we are in a paper war. Paper wars are never seen unless you look for them. Everytime Congress pasess a law that attacks American sovereignty, the people are seldom aware of the war that is being waged against them. They go about their lives, trusting that the lawmakers of the land are doing what is right for America. Sadly, the American people have been duped. What are examples of the “Paper War”? (They say that hindsight is 20/20.) The Paper War: The United Nations Treaty; GATT & the WTO; NAFTA; CAFTA; the North American Union; The SPP; Public Law 261; the Real ID act; The Federal Reserve Act; and on it goes.

When it comes to the Paper War, ignorance is not bliss. The Paper War is lost through ignorance.

So as long as birth right citizenry exists you will continue to support the families of Illegals. I don’t see where having a new id card will address this. So would it be better to allow those families already in the US to stay and support their children? Denise, I would assume that the illegal aliens who have had children in the US would want to take their children back with them. This is a subject that many illegals throw out there, and it really is a “smoke screen” used to bring emotions into the argument. Heather,

While I agree to a degree. Most do not take their children but leave them in the US with legal relatives. They are not required to take their children with them and we cannot make them or deport American’s to other countries. It is a dilemma and another ID will not fix it. If the US were to stop allowing the children born to illegals to be automatic citizens and we did not allow social services to be extended to illegals, it may be an incentive to not come here.

  42. Heather D Says:

Denise, I agree completely. I think the answer to the problem is actually two-fold. First, we need to stop birth-right citizenship; second, we need to end welfare. Before national welfare got it’s start in America (circa 1935), charitable institutions and private citizens helped those in need. I believe that most American’s would not have a problem with new people coming into the country, if we were assured that they weren’t going to be able to live for free off of the fruits of our labor that is stolen from us by the IRS. Fewer people would attempt to cross our borders illegally if they knew without a doubt that if they couldn’t find work, they would not be guaranteed the “entitlements” that would provide for their daily needs.

Many of the 5% of Americans who are unemployed…..are unemployed for a reason. Many of them are simply unemployable. Americans are not the cream of the crop, many are lazy, arrogant, and think they employers need them because we need someone to pay, and don’t consider that maybe we want the job done correctly. And as far as them having better work ethics than Americans, yes, many do, but looking at where they came from, that would be expected. If you want Americans to perform these jobs, how about paying them a wage they can feed their family on?? I know there are some sorry workers here, but there are some sorry Mexican workers here as well. If you want dedicated American workers, then pay them, so they can live. Don’t expect them to be grateful for their job if you pay them poor wages. I for one am willing to pay more if it is necessary to end this problem, and I think a lot of others are also. The middle class american voter has been screaming to the federal government for years to stop this Illegal invasion, and all we get is lip service and no action. This problem is not only being allowed to happen, it is from appearances, being intensionally perpetuated, and we are the ones that will pay for it. We, the American citizens, are actually paying for the demise of our jobs, and the loss of our culture, what a sorry state we have allowed this wonderful country to decline to, for the enrichment of a few.

Can you imagine how hard people would work if they didn’t have to pay income tax?!? And, all the new businesses that would start up? It would be very motivating.

    Hi IndyCity,
Illegals themselves cannot use federal services. But their children who are US citizens can. If you look at the studies you will find that illegals make up a very small minority. Legal immigrants and the poor make up the larger majority who use social services. So the answer to illegal immigration has already been stated. The Real ID card is nothing more than a way to track everyday citizens of the US. Which has been exactly my point all along. Sorry it took us so long to get here :)

Illegal is Illegal..BUT, when you give no choice but do or die, such as NAFTA has done, by forcing Mexican from their homeland on desperation. The treaties has subsidized the Mexican crops such as Beans and Corn. Their staple food..We are shipping these Items to Mexico at a cost that Mexican’s can not compete with, the farmers go bankrupt..their only choice is to come here looking for a way to survive.
Don’t blame the Mexicans, blame Bush/Clinton for this mess!

There has been mass protests in Mexico against NAFTA..The Mexican president and his sights on corporate $$$, can not see past his own greed to help his own people..same for our Administration. It’s a corporate hit on America and our Neighbors. Treasonous.

The fact that their are fake id’s does is not a reason for real id’s the thought that the national id is not subject to counterfiting is insane. On another note illegal’s get paid pretty well where i am from. 10$ an hour cash and no taxes. This is the going rate where I am from.

Time article on Real ID - the states are only holding out against it because of the cost, no principled basis for fighting it. We need to all send tons of emails to governors and state legislatures.

Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did, and it never will. Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress. — Frederick Douglass, August 4, 185

Since I’m rather dense about all this, would you or someone explain to me how this site relates to the Real ID card that was being discussed when you put the site up? (Thanks for your patience!)
