Campaign for President of the United States

More news from Colorado

Thanks to reader Colette for sharing this e-mail with the Daily Dose:

I just attended my county Republican convention this weekend and I have to say, I was very pleased by what I saw there.

First off, the lawn outside the convention center was carpeted by campaign signs from all of the candidates. I am pleased to say that Ron Paul signs dominated the landscape! I would say that for every sign a candidate had up, we had at least three. Kudos to Carl Brunning for equipping the supporters in this region to get the word out!

As I went into the convention (I am a county and congressional delegate) to be seated, I saw a lot of local politicians had booths. What I did not see was McCain very well represented. Ron Paul’s booth was big and informative (there was always a group standing there). Huckabee also had a booth, but it was not as well attended.

The first person who got up to speak was Marilyn Musgrave, Congresswoman from the 4th Congressional District in Colorado. She really tried to sell everyone there on the idea of John McCain as the nominee. Funny thing is, it did not look like her heart was in it. She was merely towing the party line. People in the audience were actually standing up and denouncing her words (not too rudely, but vocal none the less). Other than Musgrave, there was only one person who got up and spoke for McCain and I think he was the last minute/only choice of speaker for McCain.

This man got up and actually used words and phrases like “Constitution,” and “return to conservative values,” when referring to McCain. He said he was upset that he was the only one who wanted to get up and speak for McCain. Poor, deluded man…

What really lifted my hopes was when Carl Bruining got up and spoke for Dr. Paul. Every time he spoke of Dr. Paul’s platform, the room erupted in applause.

Here is why my hopes are up…

As I sat there, I realized that most of the delegates in that room were Ron Paul supporters.

We had pulled off what nobody yet realizes…we had the majority of delegates!

I cannot wait for State and Congressional…and the National convention! If this is an indicator, we are in the calm before the storm. When the convention in Minneapolis happens, the world will be stunned. Why? Because we have quietly infiltrated the party and we are taking it over.

Hang in there folks…the battle seems to have been lost, but the war is far from over. While they think we are in defeat, we are marshaling our forces for the great battle to be fought in Minnesota. The fight that will take back our party and ultimately, our nation.

The question now is how do we convince people not to give up when the MSM announces the McCain has secured the nomination when in reality he must get 1191 AT THE CONVENTION, and that many of the delegates granted to him are by the MSM, not by reality? Then again the MSM doesn’t really live in reality, does it?

Thanks for putting this “News from Colorado” up. Being a newbie to the whole delegate process, I a eager to learn as much as I can about it before my own state convention. I know the process can very from state to state, but I would appreciate other delegates to share how their own conventions were handled as well. I am hoping National will get that kind of info out to us so we don’t go in “blind.” Knowing what to expect and going in more prepared can only help. I am also really interested in finding out other platforms that have been set by other states to help get the GOP back to its conservative roots. Does anyone know where previous GOP platforms/planks can be found?

Doesn’t everything in the runup to the presidential election, and the election itself, hinge on voting machines VS paper ballots? Doesn’t anyone remember the humongous flap when they couldn’t figure out 8 years ago if it was Bush who really won? Voting machines and vote-counting machines are HACKABLE. people.

    Nader,

It may actually be a good thing for the MSM to keep reporting as they have been and lull the McCain supporters into a false sense of security while we Ron Paul supporters continue to win every delegate we can because of their apapthy (for how can someone truly be excited about McCain???)…it’s hard to say how well this is working, because of the lack of accurate & competent reporting by the MSM, but until a candidate gets the required number of delegates at the conventions, there is still a chance for Ron Paul so long as the Ron Paul supporters keep fighting for every delegate.

  13. Aviator Says:

I think there are alot of people on here who are missing the big picture of Ron Paul’s campaign. Sure it was to become the President. I worked my heart out for that to happen and so did hundreds of thousands of other people. As much as I am disgusted with how Paul has been treated by the MSM, their tactic has not changed, and unfortunately it looks like it is working. Theres only a handful of delegates left that John McCain needs to win the nomination. It’s true, something could still turn the tables, and I pray every day for that, but I think we need to prepare ourselves for a loss of Ron Paul winning the nomination. However, I don’t think at all that it means ending the Revolution. My concern for the current status of the Revolution is, what are we going to do if he doesn’t win? We’ve all been awakened, are we all going to go back to sleep? This needs to continue, whether Ron Paul wins or not. We need to take this Revolution to the next level, and instead of just trying to get Ron Paul to become the President, we need to start writing to our Congressman, and attending localized government meetings to promote the idea of Liberty, sound money, humble foreign policies, and restored sovereignty. Ron Paul has said time and time again “I’ll have my shortcomings but the message of Liberty has no shortcomings!”. So lets not get too depressed and go back to sleep if this doesn’t work out exactly the way we had hoped. Just think of all the work we have done within the past year, and the millions of people that have woken up in response to the message of Liberty. Imagine what we can do in four more years before the next election. But if we all go back to sleep out of discouragement, than we’re all going to have to start from scratch the next time we have another “Ron Paul”. So lets keep this moving, and lets not get too discouraged from the media blocking him out.

Well, here in Greensboro NC we are cooking up some good stuff to get the word out. We are going to make banners and put them on every overpass on routes 29 and 40 going thru GSO. At the same time we are going to call the media and ask them what’s going on? I can’t remember whoever it was on here that voiced the original idea, but thank you very much! We are in the process of getting some used vinyl ad banners from the local Freecycle group and we will be recycling them. This is just the beginning of this little project, so I will let you all know how it proceeds. Greensboro is the fastest growing city on the southern east coast with an estimated 1 million people moving here every year. Millions travel these highways every day, so hopefully we will get most of them at least curious enough to dig deeper into the man who is Ron Paul. Even though this is a fairly liberal area, I have faith! Go Ron Paul!

    Another Denver Post:

I also am County and Congressional Delegate. Our Assembly was very similar. Our speaker plugged McCain and tried to move on but people in the audience stood up and demanded that others be allowed to speak on behalf of other candidates. We had someone speak for McCain, Paul and Alan Keyes, but, no one spoke for Huckleberry.

Our ballot process was sketchy. According to the rules, all interested persons to the Congressional Assembly must send a letter of intent by 2 weeks ago or so. I sent my letter (even though it wasn’t received) but when we got to the Assembly the County organizer stated that not enough people were aware of the rules so they opened up the Delegate voting process to EVERYONE who had been elected delegate at the County Caucus. The list of possible delegates were in excess of 1200 names.

Let this be a note for everyone to BE PREPARED at the Assemblies. The Ron Paul folks met before the Assembly and distributed lists of all known Paul supporters who had been elected delegates. This is where we had the advantage. We knew our people. When they passed out the list of 1200 names everyone in the audience went around talking to folks trying to get that person to vote for them. While everyone was doing that, the RP folks were sitting in their seats marking the list with the names that appeared on our cheat sheets. Only after that was done did I go around and collect more votes for myself.

Of the known Paul delegates, all but 3 have now moved on to the next round. Slightly over 1/2 went to Delegates vs. Alternates.

Denver also proposed 12 ‘Ron Paul’ style resolutions. Most all of them passed.

When I was standing in that room it became very clear that the GOP is quickly being taken over. The neocons in the room didn’t know what hit them when resolutions denouncing the Patriot Act and FISA legislation passed.

    Regarding voter fraud:

Lou Dobbs has been espousing absentism voting ever since the electronic voting machines have been exposed to ensure your vote being counted. There is a paper trail that way.

As far is doing a write-in, from what I understand, the rules on that also vary from state to state. If that is what one plans to do (if need be), then you need to be finding out what is required to be able to do it.

Fertile Ground for recruiting New RON PAUL support.

Most of the surprised people about Ron Paul, are the ones who thought that he dropped out, happy to hear he is still running. If nothing else we can make a presence on the net, and get the sheeple thinking.

This is a great opportunity to contact between “30 to 90? people at a time, every day. That’s hundreds a week, per person, many, many more if we ALL go out and CHAT UP RON PAUL. Give them the facts of Ron Paul truths, and it will go a long way.

I’m in a quandry…I’m considering “applying” (not sure what the right word is) to be a delegate in FL. I have just two more days to get the paperwork filled out, notarized and over-nighted to Tallahassee.

Does anyone know if it’s better to be a Congressional District delegate or a Delegate at Large? The application asks to ‘choose one’, and I don’t know which is more advantageous (even though I read through the FL GOP Constitution, Rule 10 as suggested).

It appears that in FL, a “winner take all” state with regard to delegates, we are bound to the candidate from the primary election (McCain) until the fourth round of voting. Jeez…I don’t know if I can say I am “for” this man three times before I possibly get the chance to say “No….Dr. No is a much better choice!” I have never been drawn to politics before in my life and my personal travel schedule may even find me out of town during the April 5th Congressional Delegate meeting. Still, I feel I have to do something to support the cause after all Dr. Paul had done for us.

Help! Any advice or words of encouragement are appreciated.

    Liberty Gal,
The process in my state is that the At Large delegates required more signatures to get on the ballot, as they are state-wide rather than by district.
This is where the local meetups should be a bit more organized. Whether you go for At Large or Congressionall should depend on whether there are any other Ron Paul delegates running in your district or for the At Large spots. The idea is to get both filled with Ron Paul supporters… even though they are representing McInsane. The voting rules are not as binding as laws…and more may come out about that later.
Important thing is…get on the ballot! If you only have a couple of days and you need to get the signatures, the congressional delegate requirements may be easier to fill.
I admire the efforts of everyone who is working to be a delegate. This is how we can win this thing!

I called the author, Ben Steveman and he said that Ron Paul hadn’t said much on the issue of personal finance. I asked him if he had seen the video of Dr. Paul questioning Benanke and he said, “no, but that that was dealing with economic issues and not personal pocketbook issues.” Then he suggested that I could send him information about what Ron Paul’s position was. So I tried to stay calm and explain to him that he was a “professional” writer for a major publisher and that maybe he should do some research … before… writing such an article. Then we wore colored stickers that were easily seen, but meaningless to everyone else. They simply said “Conservative”. Then we had extras to give out to RP people at the assembly. We had different colored ones to offer people who were strong mccain or huckabee folks. They didn’t know the difference. Long story short, from our district in Highlands Ranch, 4 of the 5 spots for the state and congressional assemblies are RP people. Oh yeah, the RP resolutions were almost unanimously approved.

I read with great interest about your desire for an inquiry into a single television station’s failure to air an episode of ‘60 Minutes’. When will you begin your investigation into the systematic marginalization and denigration of Presidential candidate Ron Paul, who is widely reported by all broadcast media as no longer being a candidate, when he is still running? There are THOUSANDS of DOCUMENTED instances of this and other far more shocking behavior. Despite the fact that the original content may have been created by a ‘network’ it still airs on thousands of stations nationwide. When can RP supporters get THEIR day in court?

I am very impressed with how well organized the Ron Paul Groups and Supporters are. I hope this organization will carry over to the National Convention. Wouldn’t it be possible to get signed affidavits for all delegates verifying that they did indeed vote for Ron Paul. Would this not be a protection against voting fraud? So when they try to announce McCain the winner through fraud, they could prove there were more Ron Paul delegates voting for Ron Paul. We shouldn’t leave any stone unturned and make sure we do everything to prove to the world exactly how many votes Ron Paul actually receives. Marianne,

    District 50-A results

3 of 10 state delegates are solid Ron Paul.
Perhaps 3 more delegates seeing Huckabee dropped out tonight.
Of 20 alternates, I think 7-10 may be Ron Paul; we have to have some clarification tomorrow.

    Congressional
Got 5 of 20 delegates are solid Ron Paul
Of 20 alternates, we got 8 solid and perhaps 3 more from presidential attrition.
We are verifying the delegate’s presidential preferences

There is so much anti McCain on our area. Ron Paul continues to get additional delegates from presidential attrition. We had a per BPOU caucus meeting at a local pizza joint last week. One Huckabee supporter took my suggestion, she go to Ron Paul website. (The site sells Ron Paul without much effort on our part). Tonight she came running up to me saying I did my research and am all charged up to be a Ron Paul delegate. We added her to our Ron Paul slate and she got elected alternate.

In closing: identify Ron Paul supporters prior to a convention. Meet prior to conventions, get a strategy, and use a Ron Paul slate. Just knowing who and what you are going to vote about makes all the difference in the world.

The party leadership figured out what the Ron Paul delegation is up to, the fun thing for me was: I being the Ron Paul leader, (you are doing a lot of walking around the convention) and very forward personality the party leadership did not confront me or stifle our delegation voting efforts.

I am sending the delegate list tomorrow via email.

    Imoneygirl —

It’s all over, “they” say … BUT … in order to arrive at
the 1224 (more or less) delegates touted as dedicated to
McCain, “they” are including the 70 RNC delegates, which
are not bound to anyone. Further, in the fine print of the
AP story that all the newspapers are reprinting (love the
independent reporting we get …), note the IF in the
    last sentence:

“Political parties in some states, however, use multistep
procedures to award national delegates. Typically, such
states use local caucuses to elect delegates to state or
congressional district conventions, where national delegates
are selected. In these states, the AP uses the results from
local caucuses to calculate the number of national delegates
each candidate will win, if the candidate’s level of support
    at the caucus doesn’t change.”

Also note that this appears in the last graf, which many
papers don’t even print (too long, dontcha know). So — how
many delegates does McCain really have? How many first-ballot
votes will he get in September in St Paul? Simple answer:
nobody really knows, but it sure ain’t 1191 yet.

Amen Adam!! I was there, I’m a delegate to the state convention now. This is moving forward! Many kudos to those who organized that pre meeting breakfast and got us those list of names.

As Adam stated, while everyone else was running asking for votes the RP supporters sat happily in there seats voting for each other. With a 1200 name ballot that was a lifesaver - the results for the State convention 45 of us were elected delegates, 12 alternates and those alternates could very well be congressional delegates (we should get the results soon).

Best of all was how it all went. The guy sitting next to me during the voting saw my list and asked if he could borrow it. I let him and he voted for everyone on the list too! Best part, he was a McCain supporter!! Yes!

As it was previously stated: “When the convention in Minneapolis happens, the world will be stunned. Why? Because we have quietly infiltrated the party and we are taking it over.” Amen!

Go Ron Paul!! Thanks to all those super organized leaders in CO!

    Hi!
I’m in Pueblo Co. At our assembly we were given a packet and it had all of the delegates preselected. I was extremely sad we didn’t vote on who got to be delegates. I hope we will be voting for national delegates at the state level. Does anybody how that process will work?
My husband and I are on the list as delegates for the cd and alternate delegates for the state. I know we have several other delegates for Ron Paul on the preset LIST of delegates. Our meetup group president spoke for Ron Paul(thanks Randy!)….then no one else wanted to get up and speak for anybody else…until after a break and a gentleman spoke for mccain. Ron Paul was the only one with a booth set up (thanks to Randy)!!

ADAM, I like what you did by having a list of Ron Paul supports and meeting before hand! Is there going to be something like that organized for state convention? If you have already planned something, Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help with that!

    COLORADO 4 RON PAUL!!

Way to go Collette and my Birth State of Colorado!!

In my new Home State of Minnesota, here in Wright County, we just had our BPOU Convention after the Caucus. We as well has a large group of delegates, and were able to secure:

33 of 55 Delegate spots, and 21 of 55 Alternate spots for our CD or Congressional District Convention on April 5th, where 3 National Delegates will be chosen.

36 of 55 Delegate spots, and 11 of 55 Alternate spots for the State Convention May 29-31st, where the rest of the delegates will be chosen.

I have a feeling now that many feel John McCain has secured the party nomination, many of the Alternates may be lucky enough to fill the remaining slots.

    Greetings Fellow Liberty Republicans!

I am shocked that my letter ended up here! Yes, I wrote it, but I just wanted to give the Daily Paul a little shot in the arm and convince people not to give up. So, whoever posted it here, thank you! I had not thought to.

Patriots, we have a shot, even now. The fight is not over. The great battle of the RNC has not been engaged. WE are slowly, but surely closing off the enemies escape and we will take the nomination at the National Convention!

Remember, folks, for this miracle to be a MIRACLE, we must face great adversity. We must persevere in the face of it. Embrace the challenge before us and stay the course!

    God Bless the Liberty Republicans,
    God Bless Ron Paul
    God Bless this Republic!

Aviator - We have to have a Plan B: Get the capability now to seize the airwaves later. Take back radio. Punish the media elites. Transmitter kits exist. Low power, yes, but “FM capture effect” means that FM receivers will preferentially pick up the locally stronger signal. Use money orders and short-term PO boxes for kit ordering. Record and playback programming using tape, iPod, etc. - do not do “live” radio due to risk. Mobilize the transmitter and broadcast on existing channels (yes that’s “interference” and illegal) during their advertising (revenue) blocks. Do not interfere (much) with normal entertainment programming. Explain in all programming you wish you hadn’t had to take this step, but media bias has forced this action. Target stations whose news feeds come from Faux, ABC, CNN etc. as payback. Switch frequencies. Keep the number of persons with knowledge of your “station” to the bare minimum possible. Say nothing to others. If you are effective, the word will get around. By being mobile, keeping transmissions short and switching frequencies, you increase the difficulty in radio direction-finding techniques finding you. If this occurs in multiple locations around the nation, there are insufficient resources to catch all of us. Antenna of 3/4″ tubing 2′ 5″ long covers FM band under 2.6 SWR. Disguise it - be creative. Good luck. May God bless you.

    Hey People.

A chance for big MSM exposure.

Tonight (Wed 3-5-08 6PM ET) MSNBC’s Tucker mentioned that Ron Paul and Kucinich had wins last night. Tucker stated that although he only agreed with one of them (RP) he felt that they both were strong contenders and that he should have them on the show every night.

I would suggest that we all contact Tucker and encourage him to have a series of debates.
We will contact all friends and family; Dem’s and Rep’s, to watch the show, there are many in both parties who want another choice. Kucinch voters could help us. By having consecutive evenings the ratings should increase by word of mouth.

Maybe the other MSM’s would follow suit. They probably need some news now that McWar was claimed the “official nominee”. I’m sure they don’t want him to hang himself in a debate with RP.

One problem, I need someone’s help in getting MSNBC’s site on here. I don’t have IT saavy. You have permission to copy my comments if necessary. Do what you must.

We all want free publicity, here is our chance!!!

Tonight (3-5-08 6PM ET) MSNBC’s Tucker stated that Ron Paul and Kucinich finished strong last night. Tucker stated that he’d like to have both of them on his show every night.

What a great idea to stir things up. I promised Tucker that if he gave us an advance schedule we (RP and Kucinich) voters would spread the word and make it a VIEWER RATINGS BOMB.
Voters want substance and choice in this election.

I believe there is a shortage of political news now that MSM declared McWar as the “nominee”. Why risk having him speak or debate, he may hang himself. Things could get stirred up if there was a 2nd tier debate with Ron Paul and Kucinich…could be a dream come true.

I realize the MSNBC website is difficult to navigate (for me anyway) so here is Tucker’s
    email address. Tucker@msnbc.com

Please contact him while the coals are hot. I left a message which I hope gets to National.
    GO Ron Paul….

PS: Feel free to post this idea anywhere you see fit. Thanks.

I am trying to stay focused here in NY, while everyone is talking Hillary. I like thousands of others are waiting for RP to make his big move. To march on D.C. to have a ground breaking rally, to come out of the backround & get the rest of the country informed, something. I know it takes all the support he can muster, but some of us need a glimmer of light, a beacon. I will continue to speak for and about RP to anyone who will listen, the country depends on this NOW.

I have a question. Forgive my ingnorance as I am just now new to the political process. I have been a Ron Paul Supporter for about 6 months now and I continue to learn…

My question is this (to anyone): How does the media and everyone else say that McCain is the candidate and he has the necessary delegates to be the nominee? How do we get Congressman Paul as the nominee when supposedly McCain has all the delegates. Would someone please help me as I am confused and trying to understand for myself so I can explain and educate others.

I’ll look forward to some answers and hope I can learn and understand better.

    Thanks!!

I may be out of line here…but I’ll throw this out for comments.

Does anyone know the true meaning behind “freedom of the press”?

I am so tired of America’s one-sided”free” press . When the former Soviet Union did this, it was called Propaganda. When all of the candidates aren’t represented the vote is a “token” vote and a fixed election.

If 1 of only 2 remaining GOP candidates is not included in media coverage over and over again….is that a form of defamation, discrimination, slander, abuse of position, gross negligence, intentionally throwing an election by exclusion. Where am I wrong? (any lawyers out there?). I’m willing to sign a petition.

If you want to mess with them (MSM) play by their rules? What if RP was black or a woman and the only other GOP candidate?… Jessie Jackson and NOW would be on every MSM program.

RP survived out of 11 candidates….come on!!!! What is wrong with this picture?

I am not a lawyer, but do we have some type of civil suit?

  59. JP in CO Says:

Jeff Brown, The MSM is adding “bound” delegates and “non-bound” delegates together to arrive at a total large enough to meet the 1191 threshold. As usual it is a lie. Last I read was McSwine had 730? “bound” delegates. But their goal now is to insure that RP supporters give up. Is it working? You can bet it is. At the same time, nobody is or can be, excited about McSwine, so while everybody thinks he’s automatic and the few supporters he has get lazy, BAM!

    James,

You brought up a good point…The news media will be at the Republican convention….but it’s possible they will ignore the DC March on June 21st…

Unless we had a “2nd tier debate between Ron Paul, Kucinich, Nader etc…All parties could share the expenses and triple the crowd.?????? How about inviting…”We the People” all people who are fed up with big government…period. Whatever party you are in.

I believe we could gain tons of new voters. When they hear Ron Paul, “magic happens”. It should not be a Ron Paul Rally…that’s how we get ignored.
    Comments anyone?
I have got to get some sleep..this stuff keeps me awake at night. Yawn.

    IMPORTANT IDEA ANNOUNCEMENT
    PLEASE READ
Hello, I’ve been a blogger for about 3 days now but my sister is a delegate in CO and is going to a Republican County Dinner where she lives tonight. I am writing with an idea. A perfect plan… muahhhh …lol =)
The MSM, ie. Fox News here in AZ announced that RP had dropped out… a complete falsehood. If they are going to be so bold as to out n out lie then listen my fellow rEVOLutionaries our time at hand!
It is now obvious that we must get the word out to do damage control ASAP. My sister and I have been thinking and realized that we needed a National Press Release of sorts. Each of us has our friends and/or family’s email addresses. Regardless of which party they are the news has lied to them. Our duty is to let everyone we can know that RP is still in the race. It’s as simple a message as that. Send an Email “Bomb”, we are all familiar with the positive results the money “bomb” had. This again is to be sent to non-business email addresses but personal email addresses. This will not be a forwarded email so as to avoid Spam blockers and junk mail dumps.

This is what I will be sending out, please feel free to use it if you want.

Hey just wanted to drop a line. I heard today, March 7th, on the TV News that Ron Paul had dropped out of the presidential race. I’m an avid Paul supporter and am on his site daily and he just posted a video March 6th in the evening giving an update on life as Ron Paul and he did not even come close to saying he was dropping out. He will be a candidate all the way to the convention in November and I just wanted to let you know. It’s hard to grasp how the news can deliver such false information.
If you have any questions bout this guy let me know =) You know how I love to email! =)
    Sarah
Ps… send this to anyone else that you know heard the same lie.

If we do this we can reach thousands perhaps 100’s of thousands of people. Imagine where this could lead or what conversation it could start with that person you know that wants to vote for McCain.

TIME TO RALLY THE PATRIOTS OF THE RON PAUL REVOLUTION and keep our constitution alive!!!

  62. Mrs RK Says:

I believe we should think out of the box. Just a few “brainstorming thoughts” to get free publicity.

    1) A civil suit FCC (re:freedom of the press) against the MSM for fixing an election by intentionally ignoring Ron Paul as the 2nd contender (they set a precedent by NOT ignoring Huckabee or others who have since dropped out of the race)
2)Money bombs are good for the campaign but old news to the media.
    3) The DC March will not draw media attention if it is a Ron Paul rally (unless something negative happens).

    4) MY FAVORITE: (Two can play at this msm game). I believe our best bet is this:
All of the ignored candidates (Ron Paul, Kucinich, Keyes, etc.) should be scheduled to speak at the DC.rally. Get their people involved to help organize, contribute, advertise, etc. . It could triple our attendance and greatly increase our message and get some media attention. Title the rally “Let the People Decide” or “More Choices”, “American’s Against Big Government”, “No More Status Quo” “Let Freedom Ring” etc. There is no threat to us, Ron Paul will work his magic..as will we. All parties would attend and we could pick up new “politically active” voters.
I anticipate no downside.. tell me where I am wrong.
