Georgetown Wrap-Up
A couple of photos from last night’s event, and here’s a link to the Georgetown Voice’s understated coverage of Dr. Paul’s talk. What the Voice doesn’t mention is that lines like these got thunderous applause:
“People don’t have rights to jobs and they don’t have rights to medical care or rights to education,” Paul said. “What you have is a right to your life. That’s what you have.”
“We’re told that’s not compassionate,” he added. “But if you look at all of history you’ll find out that the most uncompassionate system of all is socialism and welfarism.”
Students gave those unvarnished pro-freedom, anti-state ideas an eager reception that surprised even me. And as this pic shows, the students were thronging to Dr. Paul after his speech:
Gaston Hall was an impressive venue as well. Here’s a pic of Dr. Paul at the lectern:

The event demonstrated once again just how strong Ron Paul’s connection with the next generation is. While his rivals focus on the short term, Dr. Paul is fighting not only for present, but for the future of the Republican Party — and the future of the Republic.
Update: The Hoya at Georgetown U. has a great article on last night’s speech (despite under-counting the delegates Dr. Paul has so far won), much better than the Georgetown Voice piece. Here’s a taste:
Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) may not be the GOP presidential front-runner, but students came out in full force to hear him articulate his libertarian message in Gaston Hall on Wednesday.
Entering to a standing ovation and chants of “Paul” in a packed auditorium, the native Texan delivered an address that focused on his belief in limited government and a renewed focus on the Constitution.
Invoking the Founding Fathers, Paul declared that every person has the right to full liberty, and that these liberties are currently dwindling in American society.
Read on. This article gives a proper sense of the speech, and of the electricity in the room as Dr. Paul delivered it.

Dan,
First off, I want to thank you and compliment you for your great efforts in support of Dr. Paul’s candidacy and campaign. You do a terrific job, in my opinion.
Secondly, thanks for this report on RP’s speaking engagement at Georgetown. It’s gratifying to see so many college-age people grasp the significance of Dr. Paul’s try for the GOP nomination.

Thanks!

…thinking that ‘Georgetown Voice’ article is really pretty dismissive of Dr. Paul…

Ron Paul Truth Must Enlist Youth–And Even Children
(Apollonian, 14 Feb 08)
This is incredible great news we have–once again–on the academic front where Ron Paul is so absolutely strong and respected as among idealistic youth and those beginning to appreciate and exercise HUMAN INTELLECT, nowadays and evermore just WASTED, neglected, ridiculed, and “dumbed-down.” Ron Paul is true saviour–and so I’m sure he’s genuinely seen by these youth.
For Ron Paul is greatly admired precisely for this SHEER QUALITY of intellect–by all volk, of all races.
And note Ron Paul needs APOSTLES, people who can go forth and themselves teach the people. Thus it is Ron Paul can well make use of college students–WHO CAN COMMUNICATE W. YOUNGER SIBLINGS AND CHILDREN IN GENERAL.
For then Children themselves can convey and spread the simple message of Ron Paul explaining for adults ABSTRACTS like “inflation”–IT COMES FROM COUNTERFEITING, dummies–like that scam called the Federal Reserve Bank (Fed)–see RealityZone.com for expo/ref. on Fed fraud.
Counterfeiters then, by means of terror and naked coercion, merely ENFORCE THEIR MONOPOLY (otherwise everyone would do it–the refutation/reductio). Corporate media then are natural creatures of these counterfeit meisters–hey, maybe that’s why they don’t like Ron Paul.
Again, note: “inflation”?–NOT EVEN ADULTS UNDERSTAND IT.
Counterfeiting?–any children (often quite young too) who’ve ever played Monopoly CAN UNDERSTAND. We need to get these little kidsoes out working for Ron Paul and good old USA.
CONCLUSION: So note comrade libertarians trying ur best to resemble Republicans (ech): INTELLECT IS USELESS UNLESS U CAN LINK BACK TO CONCRETES–concretes which even CHILDREN can UNDERSTAND. Ron Paul’s basic message is NOT “rocket-science”–just another lesson in that tragic human drama commemorated in Christian New Testament, esp. Gosp. JOHN, TRUTH (hence objectivity, defended by Christ) against lies (founded in subjectivity and specifically moralism), esp. lies which are ORGANIZED and enforced so intensively, like the Fed. Honest elections and death to the Fed. Apollonian

I would hope for the rest of his days on the earth that Dr. Paul will continue this type of work.. I would like to see him maybe partner up with several other like minded high profile people and give speeches threw out the country. This would serve to further educate people on the ideas. you could make it a day long event, give out information etc. Even have volunteer’s make their own presentations or speeches. With what little that young lady that introduced Ron last night said, I was very impressed. It’s people like her that will make all the difference.. Keep it up
Revolution!

I watched it live online and thought the speach was very powerful as always. Interesting that it ended exactly at 9:11. It’s very encouraging to see so many college students hear his message. I heard some college students contacted Chuck Norris about Huckafee and that’s what inspired him but too bad he doesn’t hear Dr. Paul’s message yet. Maybe he will learn soon enough

The United States Constitution was ratified by the states on 21 June 1788. This year the 21 June will fall on a saturday. Possible good day to invade Washington D.C. with our march! Any thoughts about this date?

Dan,
The photo of Dr. Paul at the podium is amazing. Any chance the photographer caught this in a higher resolution? It’s suitable for a poster, in my opinion.
Thanks and keep up the great work.

Hi Joe,
You may be able to download a hi-res image here.

Dan,
Yes, thank you for your commitment and dedication. Without you and others that are supporting this campaign as you have it would not be where it is today. I am sure this goes without saying but now is where Valley Forge may start but truth will overcome in time. You have made the right decision and I just want to say Thanks.

Excellent, Dr. Paul. Right on! I was just talking with my dad about this a few hours ago. I have two preschoolers. He understandably wants his grandchildren to go to preschool. I told my dad if they were to participate in “universal pre-kindergarten” their snack time would likely be sponsored by Juicy Juice and Kellogg’s. Their story time would likely be sponsored by Barnes and Noble. Their outdoor time would likely be sponsored by Cartoon Network. Sending them to state-run preschools is not my idea of education or parental responsibility. My children don’t have “a right” to attend preschool at the expense of their individualism. I don’t pretend to be an excellent parent, but I am learning to make choices and take advantage of that freedom of choice. Does the government know how to nourish my children? Should the government decide what books my children read? Should the government decide what qualifies as physical exercise? For me the answers were all “no” and I may have been able to get my dad to think about it more. Hooray for the future!

Dan I have to say that you are the best addition to the RP campaign….your messages are encouraging and insightful, as well as you have a great concern for the grassroots supporters. Just so you know what we have done for the campaign…is that we donated free TV/Radio commercials for grassroots to download and air…if you ever have anyone in need…here are the links..We are working on an economic ad featuring Peter Schiff!

….oh yeah and “LONG MAY DR. PAUL RUN”!
February 14th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
Thanks for the comments, everyone. Our recording equipment malfunctioned last night, so we don’t have the recorded video that we’d planned to have. But it did stream live, and someone may have captured the stream. If we can find footage, we’ll post it on YouTube (and, of course, here).

I sincerely hope the American people wake up before its too late to change what’s building. I am constantly talking about Ron Paul to everyone I meet. It’s good to see our youth listening and learning about the Constitution. I was glad to read that he’s planning to come to Connecticut. His name is hardly seen or heard here. Go Ron Paul and may God be with you!

Great pictures and great writeup, thanks for your hard work Dan!
Joe, I think I found an even higher res picture of Ron Paul at the podium: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ronpaul2008/2265263046/sizes/o/
I wish I had recorded the stream - I didn’t think of it until it had already started… I really hope someone else got it.
In the future, if anyone wants to record a live flash video stream, Ethereal is a great program to use. It’s a free program that captures all incoming and outgoing internet traffic. It takes a little while to get familiar with, but I expect there’s some tutorials online.

Dan - I hate to be the only negative post here, but… why would he speak AFTER the elections there?! Geez, I would think he would have seen a significant increase in votes after folks heard him speak.
Also, I’m really ticked off that he’s given up on WI & VT. No ads, no visits from Ron, why? I understand TX is priority but he has a real shot in WI & VT too because they have open primaries! What’s up w/ the judgment from HQ’s?!
