Proceed Ever More Boldly

“THESE are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.”

As my friend and colleague Jonathan Bydlak has pointed out before, the American Revolution—the very thing whose legacy Ron Paul is fighting to keep alive—had darker days in 1776 than anything we have yet faced. George Washington and the Continental Army, as well as the American irregulars who fought for their own homes and families even apart from the organized army, lost battle after battle that fall and the following winter, ceding New York and New Jersey to the British and retreating into Pennsylvania.

Our country was on the brink of being reabsorbed into the empire from which it had struggled to break free, and our revolution was close to being extinguished in spirit as well as in the flesh—and that crushing of the American spirit would have been the one defeat from which there could be no recovery. Think of George Orwell’s 1984, where the ultimate horror was not the endless wars between Oceania, Eastasia, and Eurasia or the state’s unlimited powers of surveillance and control, but the crushing of one man’s spirit at the end of the novel.

The American revolutionaries, unlike Winston Smith in 1984, did not break. They rallied. George Washington put his troops through grueling training at Valley Forge. Tom Paine wrote The Crisis, whose words I’ve quoted above, to rekindle the spark of liberty in our hearts. Americans of all backgrounds and walks of life did whatever was in their power to keep the revolution going. Our revolutionary forefathers heeded the words that many of them had read in the Latin epic The Aeneid: tu ne cede malis sed contra audentior ito. “Do not give in to evils, but proceed ever more boldly against them.” Those words would later become the motto of the great Austrian economist Ludwig von Mises, whose work has contributed so much to inspire Ron Paul and his revolutionary fight for a return to limited government.

The sacrifices that are now asked of us in our fight against the Leviathan state are minuscule compared to those of our revolutionary forefathers or those of Professor Mises, who fled Austria as the Nazis consolidated their state power. But we fight for the same spirit that animated Washington, Jefferson, and Mises. And because the burdens upon us are so much lighter by comparison, we have that much less reason to give in to evils or give up on our efforts. If ours is a long, long struggle, so be it: “Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered.”

Already the Ron Paul revolution has achieved more than even its own founding father dared dream. Nobody anticipated that in a field of eleven Republican candidates, Ron Paul would be among the last four standing, outdistancing one-time “frontrunners” Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson. There is still much more good work to be done, if we are willing to do it—if we do not give in to evils. And there are two obvious places to start or continue in that good work: by contributing to Ron Paul’s campaign and by organizing the revolution for peace and liberty in your neighborhood by becoming a Precinct Leader. These times may try our souls, but the example of those who have gone before us still lead us ever more boldly onward.

    I’m appalled by the whining of people who want to lay down arms when only half the primary is done.
    I’ve had too many years of anger, frustration and submission to give up in a matter of weeks.

    I’ve already seen the alternative, no suprises there. I never want to wonder later “what if”?

    Fine… you talked me into it, another $10 to the campaign! :D What? I’m a poor college student who can’t give more.

    Actually, instead of $10, I might buy another shirt or two… I wore the one I had the last two days (yes, I washed it…) and it definitely got noticed by more than a couple of people. Everybody needs to get a shirt or two. I suggest a national Ron Paul Shirt Bomb day, where everybody wear Ron Paul shirts. Of course, this should be repeated on state primary days, and whenever the urge arises.

    Also, where can I get free slimjim information to print myself, besides the Homeschool and Senior one… I’m on a college campus where those would do absolutely no good. Also, does anybody have ideas for the best information to pass out on primary days? I’m in Texas so I assume his pro-life stance and immigration policy, but is there one that has this information combined onto one page?

    Let’s keep this dream alive. Everybody go to bed and get much needed rest for continuing this fight!

    just remember, we’re headed for a brokered convention, nominate yourselves to be delegates, so that, in the national convention, when any one candidate fails to get 51% of the vote, you can vote your conscience and cast your vote for Ron Paul. I am saddened I was not able to do so because I simply didn’t have the money. Super Tuesday is only the half way mark, don’t loose heart, I’m in it for my daughter’s sake, I’ll never give up!

    It would not be a surprise to me finding out that many whom have joined this cause are familiar with the Neoconservatives. But even if you are, it bares more research into their plans, goals and ideology. The more you learn the more you will realize what is at stake in this. Never in the brief history of this country has there be such a real threat to it. Though it sound all to much a conspiracy theory, it is all too real and it is time to stand up. A person like Dr, Paul is becoming short in supply, he is the right direction and we will need far more like him. This candidate means far more then a simple and honest person in the White House.
    It mean the continued existence of the United States of America and sadly that is not a over statement.
    We must exercise every option before there is only one remaining. The next five years maybe a telling tale, God be with you Dr, Paul and God be with the United States of America. Long may she live..

    Thank you for the inspiration and worthy examples of steadfastness. Our mettle is surly at the test. I am in North Pole, Alaska and I know that we have worked very, very hard up here in northern Alaska and this night’s results just don’t logically add up? I won’t get into this now – but I think Ron Paul supporters…state by state - all over this nation are beginning to smell a big rat.

    As you well know, the vast majority of Ron Paul supporters don’t view this as just an “election”, but most regard it as perhaps our last great hope to restore our beloved Republic. We have many enemies and that is not jest! Of those enemies – I submit that the most dangerous threat confronting the campaign daily is the actions or lack thereof from mainstream media. Ron Paul supporters never expected favoritism from MSM– only fairness… we got neither.

    It is mainstream media that is most responsible for the undermining of our hard efforts…state by state and piece by piece!! They are the most immediate enemy and we should not underestimate the damage they inflict on us and our cause. We must find the means to establish a true solidarity and critically begin to examine how to confront and destroy their ability to control the American election process.

    Our resolve for the cause is far from diminished – to the contrary…despite the abuse that Ron Paul and us supporters have endured from the mainstream media and the “odd” procedures and “surprising” results that have become consistent with the GOP run state primaries….we are actually growing in dedication and determination to put this country right again – no matter what the cost!! Be assured that way up here in Alaska - we are far from finished and I must say that I can not imagine that the same simmering rage is not beginning to brew within the ranks of all Ron Paul revolutionaries nation-wide. For those that have thrown so many rocks in our path – I think they have totally underestimated our determination and capacity.

    We need to direct the fires of our indignation toward the most focal source of our difficulties – and that is American mainstream media! We know full well what MSM is doing with orchestrating this election. Now is the time to be honest with ourselves. We need to admit that they are never going to give Ron Paul objective and balanced coverage and they are only going to further hurt us and spoil the fruits of our hard labors. I urge all Ron Paul supporters to focus the wrath of their indignation on MSM and their sponsors.

    Others have been shouting this message for months and our efforts to retaliate against MSM have been sporadic at best. The official campaign can not do this - we must do it! We could be stronger if we consolidate our efforts. We need to network together specifically on this MSM problem and hit them with everything we can in every chink of their amour!! Now is the time for us to rally together and fight back!! Don’t let them continue to get away with this media election control abuse – their abuse is robbing you of your vote, hard work and honest results from your funding. I am open for any ideas or comments from my brothers and sisters in this struggle.

    This is a duplicate post, so forgive me, but…

    Stand fast, people! A good revolution takes time and commitment in the face of daunting and seemingly overwhelming odds. And FREEDOM and LIBERTY are worth it!

    I’m in NC and we’re just getting started big time. Our primary is in May. Our revolutionary roots run deep here–something about being one of the original 13 colonies, I believe!
    Our meetup group is hitting the streets as a GROUP to canvass my precinct Saturday. We are attempting to hit every one of our 22 precincts en masse.
    We’ve started our letter-writing campaigns and looking at placing our ads in our local paper and surrounding papers.
    We’re getting in touch with surrounding counties’ meetups to coordinate efforts.
    We have 5 precinct leaders so far, but we’re going to hit all the precincts, regardless of how many leaders we have.
    We’ve got a place on a main drag where we can set up a booth and invite people to pull in and get information.
    We’re pestering the local GOP (not real accommodating folks) to make sure we know when our caucuses are so we can show up and try to become delegates to the state convention.
    We have a bunch of spring festivals in the area, and we’re going to be at each one.
    I’ve given up one of my favorite things and am sending that money that I would otherwise spend to the campaign. Give up that Starbucks or candy bar or pack of cigarettes or other indulgence and keep giving to the campaign. Every little bit helps!
    Dig in! We’re here for the long haul. There’s no looking back for me, absolutely no contemplation of quitting. Their deceit and misinformation only serve to strengthen my resolve and determination to continue to fight take our country back. Onward!

    Are taxes legal? Is there a law

    on the books that say we must pay?

    Do we need to withhold our income tax

    to get their attention? To get fair treatment?

    Do we need to expose their plan for martial law?

    Let’s say Mr. Paul had 7% of the populations support (which we all know is way low).

    That’s 21,000,000 people!

    Do they really want to anger that many people?

    Have that as theme song, starting out with a few people singing it, then ending the commercial with as many as you can get in one shot shouting it.

    That would get their attention.

    The media manipulation is incredible, and gives a real insight into the Stalinist Democracy of the American oligarchy

    Perhaps the most striking realisation is that four of the five candidates, if elected will make their very first mark as “Leader of the Free World” BY LYING PUBLICLY AT THEIR INAUGURATION.

    Taking the oath to uphold the Constitution, when it’s clear that they either don’t understand the Constitution or have no such intention, is perhaps the most damning indictment against their characters.

    This, more than any other one thing I have seen, impacts upon their credibility. Like a cancer, it eats away at their integrity until it destroys totally who they are as a person.

    Perhaps it explains why America is where it is today. When Its President cynically takes an oath whilst having absolutely no intention of adhering to it - A foundation of falsehood is not the bedrock upon which anything successful or long lasting can be built.

    Ron Paul has been an inspiration to me, and I thank him for his long example of integrity.

    I have never believed in what appears to be the first rule of democratic politics: never, ever criticize the demos. I think I read and believed Mencken in my salad days, and it stuck. That said I pretty much “knew” that the realistic objective in this election cycle was to get the message out, not to “win” by vote or delegate count.

    So, did we? Get the message out? Well, to some degree (meaning that it could always have gone better), yes we did. In light of that conclusion, there is no reason to get discouraged and no reason to discontinue the fight for the hearts and minds of the voters in future elections; no matter where or when. Beyond what is happening today are, alas, hundreds of national and state legislative votes, which will determine the level of liberty in which we will live.

    Press on? We have no choice,— if our goal is liberty. We are living Jefferson’s eternal vigilance. It is a marathon, not a sprint. Russell Kirk once called us of the libertarian bent: “chirping sectaries”. Although in our hearts we know that both Mencken and Robert Higgs are right about the demos, we must prove Kirk wrong. Our anarchic tendencies musn’t work against our perceived good. Perhaps, for a while, our only victories will be on the margin. In a democracy with enervating checks and balances, those marginal wins are not unimportant.

    From Solon to Alexander was a blink in geologic time. Don’t blink!

    Dan, an excellent and inspiring call to arms. I have no doubt that there are many battered and weary troops like myself ready to do just that. I said I would NOT post until after Super Tueday was over. I kept that promise. I don’t have to eat crow based on Super Tuesday RESULTS.

    That said: Washington took stock of the situtaion at Valley Forge. He looked at the results achieved and was honest iand humble enough in realizing that a major change to gain victory was necessary. He placed General Von Steuban in charge of training the troops in military discipline and methods. He changed his overall war plan. The result? He turned, with God’s and the French fleets help, from almost constant defeat into victory shortly therefater at Yorktown. Can National learn from this lesson by the great George Washington?

    National must be humble enough to realize that the current strategy though having some success is losing the war. Let’s look at reality:

    1. Yes, we have over 1000 Meetups. Assuming an average of 20 persons per Meetup, we have 200,000 warriors. But do we really? Let’s be honest. Most of the members are sunshine patriots. Just a few memebrs do most of the hard work necessary to win. IF we had even half of members as dedicated troops, why we are still at less than 10% coverage of precincts? This is a FACT. No patting oursleves on the back erases that fact.
    2. Let’s assume there is a brokered convention. Given the rather disappointing results in terms of the number of Precinct Captains, can we really expect to have the delegate power necessary to win at a brokered convention? Being a delegate is much more challenging in terms of time and persuasive ability than being a Precinct Captain. Sure we can stir up the pot and have our few minutes of glory waving signs, etc when Ron Paul’s name is put up for President on the floor of the convention, but is that enough to win this war?
    3. Let’s assume now that by a miracle, we get Ron Paul the nomination at a brokered Convention. I grant that is possible although NOT probable unless major changes are made at National. We MUST have our General Von Stueban(s) at National. Let’s be totally honest with ourselves. What is the probabilty that the NeoCons and their ilk will get behind Ron Paul as the GOP candidate. If history is any teacher, they won’t but will undermine our efforts. It happened with Barry Goldwater in 1964. The forces for big government are stronger today than in 1964.

    So, what should now be done? Certainly we can continue spending our money and time trying to win the GOP nomination. We can continue to be trapped by GroupThink. But, there is a workable alternative where our time and money will IMO be more wisely used and we can be GUARANTEED that Ron Paul will be a candidate for President. That we will be able 100% to cast a ballot to restore our Constitution. That will start the replacement of the corrupt GOP with a Constitutionally based major second party to offset the statist DP.

    Since my recommendations have been ignored before, I fully expect they will be ignored again. My wife and I’s willingness to move to DC and head up the Precinct Captian’s program for NO SALARY has gone into the Bermuda Triangle better known as National. But here goes:

    Place all our people and money resources and future resources running as the candidate of a coalition of the Constitution Party, Libertarian Party, and the America First Party (the old Reform Party). IMO, it would be best to do this under the banner of the Constitution Party. The strict Constitutionalist running on the Constitution Party ticket. I can see all types of suvccesful marketing methods to take advantage of that.

    Some history? Back in 1856, the Whig Party was on the rocks. Some wise leaders, however, got a great idea. They formed a coalition of several smaller parties including the Whigs, Free Soil Party, Liberty Party, etc and formed the GOP. Fremont was the 1856 Presidential candidate. Yes, he lost but in 1860 Lincoln won. The rest is history: the GOP dominated for many years with the exception of the great DP party constitutionalist Grover Cleveland.

    Ron Paul is the visionary we need to do this in 2008. Hard work will be necessary to bring about this coalition. But it’s worth it. All our money and time will now be spent working towards Nov, 2008, not working towards the GOP Convention coming up in the summer.

    No matter what National does, I know that I will work hard with the folks here in NC to get Stokes County, NC fully covered by Precinct Captains and every Stokes County door knocked on for Ron Paul. Beginning March 6th, my wife and I will start with our precinct and move out. Until then, we have been handing out slim jims everywhere we go shopping, etc. We have placed a sign in our yard and placed a magnetic sign on our minivan. We have recruited one Precinct Captain who happened to do some plumbing work at our retirement home.

    All my future financial resources, however, will be directed to local work where I KNOW it will get the bang for the buck that we’re failing to get by National. IF, however, National decides to seek coalition building and run on the Constitution Party ticket, our funds will once again start flowing to National.

    Fact: our money bomb efforts the last two times have resulted in $1.8 million and $1.1 million (downward trend) as compared to the upward trend of $4.3 and $6.1 million. We are getting new donors BUT are we losing old donors faster than gaining new donors. It APPEARS so. I don’t think I’m the only person who feels that National is NOT giving us the bang for the buck. It might be interesting for National to see how many donors are multiple time givers and how many use to be multitime givers but are “dropping out.”. Ah, but again I doubt that action will be taken.

    It is important to realize other republicans that voting for McCain is voting for Hillary to be your next president. It is the most important of your message you can give to the people.

    Dont give up the faith, we still do not know how strong support we have in terms of delegates.

    Right now it would be the best to Huckabee to quit and maybe Romney.
    McCain has strong oposition inside the party and he reached its limit.
    Now it is the time to choose his oponent in the party. Who will last??? Who will have the greatest strenght.

    I would suggest Dr Paul to wait a little bit untill his oponents will quit and present us the real result of his struggle. Keep up the faith.

    Dr. Schell … you kept your promise, though I once thought a few days ago you might have posted under an alias, since ’someone’ sounding similar to you was pushing the Constitution Party.

    A third party run will not work — you will never get a coalition between the Libertarian and Constitution Parties … the theocratic platform of the CP is just plain unacceptable to the great majority of Libertarians. I don’t want to argue with you about whether its theocratic or not … I’m an extremely intelligent person … I can read … I know what your platform says, and more importantly I know what many of the CP party-supporters and candidates [present and past]advocate publically. I’ve paid attention to it for over a decade. A very good friend of mine [a dedicated John Bircher] has been very active in the CP [I’m not a John Bircher]. I also had a long, personal and private in-depth face-to-face discussion with Aaron Russo, founder of the CP, back in 2000 after he had left the CP and was running as a candidate on the Libertarian Party ticket.

    People in America are just not ready to accept a return to ‘true’ Constitutional values. Hell, few Americans even understand what that means. Look at both the mainstream parties — they both preach they are ‘the ones’ who understand what America is truly about, and ‘they’ are the ‘ones’ who will respect our Constitution. Then there is ‘us’ … the Ron Paul supporters of classical American liberalism — most of today’s Americans don’t even understand what that means. A century of Dewey’s Progressive educational system has done its job, indoctrinating Americans to the core values of Socialism and making them dependent on government. Its not going to be undone overnight, and certainly not without exposing the failings of the Progressive/Socialist government practiced by both Dems and Repubs.

    That means EDUCATION about the TRUTH of the world … about REALITY … not just the Dem form of mixed Socialism-Capitalism [which seeks to eliminate most capitalism] or the Repub form of mixed Capitalism-Socialism [which seeks to maximize power of corporations]. Both WILL end in Fascism !!

    Every 4 years I harp to Libertarians about keeping the ideas and momentum built during the election season alive by donating money toward a continuing television exposure of the ideas of Classical American Liberalism. Yet, the momentum dies with the elections.

    A group right now is sponsoring a start-up organization to attempt such an effort. I haven’t investigated its structure and credibility yet, as I was just contacted by them a couple days ago. Perhaps you received an email too.

    The best thing that can be done right now is to keep the momentum we have and maintain it into the future. It is important for the Republican Party wonks to understand that, when John McCain gets the formal nomination, though the Romney and Huckabee supporters may fall in line like good little party loyalists, most Ron Paul supporters likely will not compromise their principles to support McAin in the national election. That 7% or more total national support Ron Paul has can make or break the national election this fall if the RP supporters either don’t vote or vote for the Dem candidate. I suspect if Barack Obama is the nominee, many of the anti-war RP supporters may well vote for him, or at least not oppose his election vs. McCain.

    Anyway, the struggle is long and hard … sadly, I doubt great changes will be made in what’s left of my lifetime, barring a true armed resurrection [which is not a total impossibility given the great polarization of America — Balkanization as Pat Buchanan calls it]. I will never compromise my principles for any of the variant forms of Socialist leadership currently dominant in American politics.

    I respect Dr. Paul. I’m not so arrogant as to believe that he should abide by my wishes. I will leave him to make up his own mind about his own future.

    In Oklahoma, Ron Paul received 11,000+ votes

    In Alabama, Ron Paul received 15,000+ votes

    In Arizona, Ron Paul receive 19,000+ votes

    In California, Ron Paul received 90,000+ votes!

    And there are many people who didn’t change party in time,
    or get registered early enough, or understood
    the full complexity of the nominating system,

    who voted undecided.

    Ron Paul need a kick butt national tv commercial, that makes
    people jump up of their couch, and get involved.

    Dudes…folk….I can’t afford it but I’m kicking in another $100 right after I hear from Ron that he is still in it. So people who have the ear of the campaign I need to hear that.

    Then we need to start writing MSNBC to make sure Ron is in that upcoming debate.

    We need to capitalize on the discontent of the other candidates supporters who now know it won’t be their guy.

    We are getting Hillary and McCain in the general …so now we can start strategizing on how to stop those two.

    We must get and support more candidates across the nation who will run as Ron Paul Republicans and stand up to the government that has slipped away from We The People. The Revolution has just begun, and this is one way for us to Rock On!

    If John McCain gets elected we will have at least 4 more years of disastrous George Bush policies. Let’s not let that happen.     The best thing we can do at the moment is, perhaps, keep Ron Paul’s war chest a full as possible and hopefully obtain the delegates that have gone to Huckabee and Romney … McCain can’t win (the population as a whole is anti-iraq war and he refuses to admit an error here) in November and neither can Romney (same pro-war message, etc.). Huckabee remains out of money and will be forced out of the race soon even with the boost he got on Tuesday. Romney may decide to drop out as he is clearly not convincing the Conservatives that he is conservative (he isn’t).

    There is still a chance and a chance is always worth fighting for.

    Regardless of how this all turns out in the months and weeks ahead, it’s already been a tremendous success. We’ve woken millions of people up and shown them the truth. We’ll continue to remain awake and will spread the word in the years ahead. It’s going to be impossible for the MSM to hold us down forever. I hope and pray that we can win our country back in 2008, but even if we fail this year, it will happen someday within our lifetimes!

    Unlike other candidates who are selling themselves, Dr. Paul is correct when he says it’s about the message. For those other candidates it is about them because once they are gone, their supporters are no different than they were before. Dr. Paul is leaving all of us with the knowledge of the way our country should be run and this awareness and patriotism can be carried with us as long as we live. Unfortunately, since freedom is not popular to the powers that be, we’ll need to keep selling our family, friends and neighbors, one convert at a time.

    If each of us can sell 1 new person a week on the message of freedom, by the general election everybody in America would be voting for Paul. Patience and persistence and one day we will have our freedom back.

It seems that there is only one major political party in America: The Establishments Party’s. Forget the labels Republican and Democrat.     At every loss, we get pointed to the next bend. If the point of this election was to get the message out, then quit pointing to the next primary or caucus.

    It’s nice to see quotes of Thomas Paine on this blog, but the truth is we aren’t fighting a revolution, we’re playing revolution. It’s a mind game. Oh sure there’s plenty of people out on the streets, but we’re fighting the wrong opponents and have a crazy idea that people are gonna quit and leave their support to us. And plenty of cheerleaders will pickup the “summer soldier/sunshine patriot” cheer and drive a deeper wedge into the camp.

    I’m sorry, but I’m pretty tired of all the rah rah, it’s only half done, support the plan, were in this for the long haul stuff. There’s no way in hell the GOP is going to let Dr. Paul garner enough support to win and brokered convention is just another pipe dream.

    I’m afraid we just don’t have the time to wait for calamity to strike before people wake up. I don’t believe they will.

    Look at 9/11, we rallied as a nation, and look where that got us in the liberty department. When the fan is struck by that smelly stuff, people aren’t going to rally around freedom, they’re going to be the sheep we’ve seen thus far in this election and follow the status quo.

    If Americans are so anti-war as is reported, how is that the only one anti-war candidate on the ballot can’t manage 7% of the votes?

    I do have one question about this idea of moving to a new party or forming a new party out of the current fringe parties. If you cannot persuade Republicans to support you, Republicans who believe in limited government , low taxes, balanced budgets, secure borders, strong national defense, pro-life etc. how are you going to drum up support for one of the other parties, or a coalition of these parties, who incidentally do not all agree with each other? You will have to do all the same things you are doing today and the Old Media will still ignore you so what are the benefits of taking that course?

    It is far, far better, in my opinion, to continue hold the Republican Party to its stated, though ignored, principles. In other words to continue, to persevere, to undertake a renewal of the Republican Party; indeed to make of the Republican Party something it has never been since the days of Jefferson, when the original Democratic-Republican party stood against the “monocrats” for all the principles embraced by Dr. Paul today. That Jeffersonian party evolved into today’s Democratic Party which has also lost its way. What better name for a party whose purpose is to restore the Republic than the Republican Party?

    That is a worthy objective surely, to capture the Republican Party from within, just as the Trotskyite neocons have done. Why leave it to them? Why banish yourself to the wilderness and leave the Trots in charge of the heights? Why do you believe Dr. Paul has stayed with the Republican Party? He knows it can be captured. As he has said, it has shrunk. It will take fewer RP Republicans to capture the heights of the Perty than it would have done even seven years ago.

    Tuesday’s voting is common to most elections in that 60% to 70% of the voters are 50 years old and older. This group may not be as internet savvy as the readers and writers on this site and are not getting the message because of the MSM blackout of Dr. Paul. So local efforts like information distribution, or visitations, or finding constitutional thinkers and making them leaders within their peer groups is needed ASAP.
    I happen to be in that age group and even among my friends I am finding some have heard of Ron Paul but do not know he is a Republican or is a standing Congressman.
    Recently during a social function I asked one lady and husband this question: If the Republican and Democrat parties try to ignore someone and if the news media has a blackout on the same person isn’t that a person you should look at? The answer was of course yes and I believe they will.
    The presidential election is not until November and the Convention is in September, many primaries are yet to be completed and most delegates are not yet seated. If Dr. Paul continues to have the energy to continue spreading the constitutional message and some local news continues to report and we do our jobs in our local areas it will at least begin a new wave of informed citizens to get our country back. Donate what you can, buy and wear a shirt or button, and have a chat with grandma and grandpa. If you look at the alternative what choice do we have?

    I don’t quite understand why some people are feeling down right now. Maybe it’s because I live in a caucus state and sat down and discussed issues with people last night, and SAW the indecision weighing on those who had already picked candidates. Realize that when they report MN, they only have the straw pole numbers…the delegates that were picked last night ARE NOT BOUND to those votes. In my precinct, we got at LEAST 33% of the delegates for Ron Paul, and I say at least because there were at least 2-4 delegates that were at the caucus for anyone but Hillary. The next steps for us are to keep his name known, and point out that delegates for many of these states are NOT chosen or bound.

    After the caucus, I ran out to my favorite resturant, and ended up mentioning Ron Paul and handing out the small flyer with the “no taxes on tips” message…and it was refreshing to see the light dawning as people read his message. We need to, as a group of Ron Paul supporters, remember that we can’t just keep talking to ourselves…we’re sold. We NEED to get his message out further, because win or lose, the message of freedom is what’s important.

    Keeping with the analogy of the Revolutionary War and the Valley Forge encampment, the Paul Campaign needs a General Von Steuben to come in and conduct rigorous training.

    I have been evaluating RP’s public speaking performances on the MTV presentation and in the many debates, and, it’s my opinion that our man on the White Horse** that needs the training just as much if not more than the rank-and-file.

    The first rule of public speaking is to make sure you tailor your message to your audience, because after all that’s why you are there, to communicate with them (remember Ronald Reagan’s nickname was The Great Communcator). RP’s responses seem to assume that the audience has spent just as much time as Ron has studying the underlying causes for how we got into this mess. They haven’t. RP needs to simplify.

    The first rule of political speaking is to Stay On Point. That means when asked a question, DIRECTLY answer the question, and in keeping with the first rule of public speaking, make sure you put it in terms the audience is going to understand, so reinforce the answer with an example. The Darfur question during the MTV presentation is a perfect example of the kind of rambling, disjointed response that ends up befuddling the audience instead of enlightening.

    I would propose that the Campaign managers spend some of the money that generous contributors have donated, and hire one or two of the best speaking coaches available, and have RP work with them several hours a day.

    Dr.Paul it is important that you are aware you have delegates in hiding. Reports are coming in on www.ronpaulforums.com of Ron Paul supporters who were elected as delegates and were secretive about supporting you because other candidates were poised to win the state.

    These elected delegates have no problem voting for you against the wishes of the GOP and the silly rules that they can not even enforce.
