Thank You, Nevada! Ron Paul Gets the Silver in the Silver State
The hard work and dedication of our Nevada campaign and supporters has paid off with a second place finish — thank you! We beat the pollsters’ expectations and, of course, we beat McCain, Huckabee, Thompson, Giuliani, and Hunter. Here’s our news release:
RENO, NEVADA – Ron Paul finished second in the Nevada Republican presidential caucuses today, defying recent polls that had the Texas congressman finishing in fourth, fifth or sixth place.
According to results reported on the Nevada GOP’s website, Congressman Paul placed second with 13 percent, topping John McCain, Mike Huckabee, Fred Thompson and Rudy Giuliani.
“Ron Paul has once again topped multiple media-anointed ‘frontrunners’ with his poll-defying second place showing in Nevada,” said Ron Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder. “We’re in this race to win, and we’re going to battle for every delegate in this wide-open race for the Republican nomination.”

What a lesson tonite…money can’t buy.
Thank you Ron Paul & all involved in r3VOLution (myself included;)
January 19th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
What a great day to be a Paul supporter. Thank you Ron, and thanks to the nearly 6000 Nevadans that voted for him! Keep the ball rolling!!
January 19th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
I just planted my Ron Paul sign in the frozen ground of my front yard, where there is steady traffic all day and most of the night long!!!!!
I am so excited to see the results from NEVADA!!!!
January 19th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
Actually, I think it was much more than that, it was 6000 caucus delegates… which would translate into… however many votes.
January 19th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
RINO’s?!? We don’t need no stikin’ RINO’s!!!
Go, Saint Paul–Go!!!
January 19th, 2008 at 6:41 pm
Yes! Go Dr. Paul Go!
How will the major news corps keep this one off the radar?
Here is Canada, our national news (the CBC) only mentions that Romney won Nevada, nothing else.
Incredible!
January 19th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
So how many of those 6000 delegates are RP supporters?
January 19th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
Sorry for the typo…I meant ‘Here in Canada’
January 19th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
Congratulations! I won THREE lunches at work betting that you would take first or second in Nevada. Keep up the good work!
January 19th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
CNN now shows the good doctor at 14%. (2nd place). GO! RON! GO!
January 19th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
14% for Ron Paul !
January 19th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
The Nevad GOP Caucus has Paul pulling off 14 percent to McCain’s 13 percent with 1,785 out of 1,789 reporting. Your press release should note this because MSNBC, FOX and CNN certainly are not giving him as press time tonight. I hope the Paul campaign is working the phones to the networks and demanding air time!
January 19th, 2008 at 6:48 pm
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Nevada grassroots for doing an AWESOME job of getting out the vote!
GO RON PAUL!!!!!!!!!!!
January 19th, 2008 at 6:48 pm
Cheers to Paul and the fellow revolutionist. Keep on marching through this struggle.
Dont forget the 21st to keep this going.
January 19th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
NICE! Now lets dig deep and push hard….
January 19th, 2008 at 6:55 pm
This is hugely encouraging for all of us in Nashville campaigning for Ron Paul. We’re covering Middle Tennessee everywhere you look. We’ve got TONS of signs everywhere, including billboards and a large number of well done homemade signs over interstates, on-ramps, and high traffic areas. Everybody keep fighting and never give up. We’re making real progress. Thanks everybody!
January 19th, 2008 at 6:58 pm
It is also worth noting that Ron Paul earned more votes than either Clinton or Obama did from the Democratic Caucus. In a head to head race in Nevada, Paul would be electable. How much airtime are we seeing about the Republican turnout in general? In a state evenly divided, the Republicans turned out about 4X the voters.
January 19th, 2008 at 7:04 pm
We did take second out here in Nevada, and with 14%! We are so excited and happy we could help.
January 19th, 2008 at 7:12 pm
It will be hard to tell on the delegate count since it now goes to the county and then on to the state conventions to actually determine the delegates for each candidate (or is Nevada a winner take all state?).
In our precinct, (Elko County #41) Paul supporters took 9 of the 12 delegate positions mainly because we knew that delegates are elected independently of the straw poll results and we all ran as delegates. Only 18 of the 102 caucus participants voted for Ron but we took 2/3 of the delegate seats. Should be an interesting county convention if this pattern repeated in other precincts.
January 19th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Congratulations Dr. Paul and Thank You Nevada!
January 19th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
We also won Nye county (Las Vegas suburbs) outright with 34%.
January 19th, 2008 at 7:18 pm
I’ve had CNN on all day and through all their long-winded primary coverage, do you think they once explained the delegate process in Nevada? No. What a great news outlet they are! The numbers they show (e.g., Romney around 22,000, Dr. Paul around 6,000) as far as I can tell are precinct delegates earned by each candidate; they are not popular vote totals which are not released by the Nevada Republican Party. These precinct delegates, in turn, will in the future select 31 delegates that go to the Republican national convention in September. Someone at paulunteer.com says, however, that Ron Paul will have many more precinct delegates than the 14% that is being reported because there aren’t that many Romney delegates. I’m not sure what that means or if it’s true. I would like to know, so if anyone can clarify and verify, please do. Thanks.
January 19th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
I participated in the Nevada caucus today. There were two parts. What the press is reporting, the 14%, is the popular vote taken by secret ballot at the caucus. Delegates and alternates were elected separately. They are delegates to the county conventions next month, who in turn will elect delegates to the state convention in April. Eventually delegates will be sent to the national convention in Sept. In my precinct, Dr. Paul won 25% of the popular vote and 35% of the delegates, thanks to good tactical voting. It is not publicly known what the statewide delegate totals are.

I am glad to have seen Ron do so well.
I can hardly wait to see how the main stream controlled
media spins this.
We still have a long way to go , as we all know all
gains in life take hard work and determination.

I wonder how well he would have done if we returned to open, vocal and paper ballots. NO MORE SECRET BALLOTS PLEASE!
January 19th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Thank You Nevada!! Keep up the good work Dr. Ron Paul even without the media recognizing you! There silence makes it more noticible. People are really going to start to wonder why the media is not covering someone who just took 2ND PLACE in Nevada! The steam is builing up!!
January 19th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Wow, those Nevadians sure are a bunch of crazy loonies.
January 19th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
Thank you Ron Paul for standing for what is right and just. I am proud to be a supporter. Please don’t give up or give in. How come we don’t here about Ron coming in second placein NEVADA? MMMM I Wonder. Thank you all for supporting Ron.

Silver Medal, just behind RUMSFELD, Congratulations!
Obama’s name is often tainted by its intentional substitution, “Osama”.

Let’s try it this way (see URL).
Get off puter, need boots on the ground!
January 19th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
“gets the silver?” Ugh, That’s a Romneyism. I am just as tired of hearing him talk about the Olympics as I am hearing Giuliani talk about 9-11.
January 19th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
Congrats Nevada!!
Came to LasVegas for the 1/2-mile-long Ron Paul march last Saturday - it was great, walking & whooping with dedicated & enthusiastic supporters for Dr. Paul (where was the Romney march? nowhere!).
This news Made My Day !!
Ron Paul for the long haul upcoming moneybombs:
1/21 - Free At Last (Dr. M.L.King day)
4/17[?] - Tax Free Moneybomb (Dr. Paul supporters donating Duhhhbya’s paul-try [sic] $600 tax rebate/bribe to Ron Paul campaign)

January 19th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
Ron Paul wins 2nd……BUT, just wait until they conveniently bring out those “last minute votes” for John McCain. We shall see…..
January 19th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
This is great news for all of us Ron Paul supporters! Show up at the polls and vote Ron Paul everybody! We NEED to take OUR country back from the elites, the MSM, the neocons, and the rest of the cheating rats! Including those in the race, minus Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel.
January 19th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
I am now a proud Nevada delegate for Ron Paul! I noticed about 1/2 of the people who attended my caucus were Romney supporters. However, they seemed content to cast their straw poll ballots (which, if I understand it correctly, really mean nothing and is where the published numbers came from), and when it came down to running for delegate, few of them wanted to do it. They didn’t seem to realize that the delegate selection was the most important reason we were there! In my particular precint, 100% of our delagates (3 of 3) are Ron Paul Supporters! We definitely have something to celebrate here!
January 19th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
You have a good product, it sells itself. In Dr. Paul’s case, the product is a message, the message is ‘reform’ which the rest of the Pandidates are now starting to relay, but Ron’s been bringing the reform ‘noise’ for a while, now, and I fully wish the man the best of luck and hope he gets the Republican nomination. New Broom sweeps clean, and oh, boy, is it ever dirty in there! But, he seems like the kind of ’sleeves-up’ guy for the job.
Ron Paul 08!
January 20th, 2008 at 12:23 am
Congrats to Dr. Paul and the good people of Nevada. Canada loves and supports the message of freedom and liberty that Dr. Paul delivers and we hope and pray everyday for Ron Paul in 2008!
January 20th, 2008 at 12:59 am
Wow! What a day for the TRUTH! They can’t stop the R3volution now, too many people have woken up!!!
January 20th, 2008 at 1:18 am
I caucused in Nevada today! And I must say although the entire process was utter chaos I am now officially a delegate for Ron Paul and my precinct and I know with certainty that at least 7 of the 12 delegates in my precinct are for Ron Paul as well!
January 20th, 2008 at 1:40 am
presenting ron with 13 percent on place 2 together with mccain (also 13 percent) here in germany. of course mccain is listed formally as number 2 and ron as number 3.. no reports about republicans really, no reports about fraud, only reports about are hillary and obama here.

Same as in the UK - the BBC only mentioned McCain and Romney (and then Huckabee) but failed, again(!), to mention Ron Paul. However, they have shown Dr Paul’s share on their website.

Dr Paul is not even mentioned on the BBC ceefax pages. I guess the only reason he is mentioned (one-liner) on the website is because they believe that that is where he gets his support from.

Congratulations and best wishes Dr Paul.
January 20th, 2008 at 5:35 am
I am so happy, that finally Dr.Ron Paul have been so succesful! I follow everything I can get about this integer and honest politicen who makes an absolutely differens between the rest of those egotists. Alas i can´t vote, but I can tell you, that the most of the “rest” of the world go for Ron Paul, a worldwide poll has shown!
Good luck Dr.Paul!
January 20th, 2008 at 5:36 am
Duncan Hunter is officially OUT of the race! Now if only Thompson and Guliani would drop out and quit wasting the voters time, Ron can get to the business of getting delegates and the press can’t intentionally leave RP out of their reporting, though they will do their best to try.
January 20th, 2008 at 6:03 am
call in to c-span they are the only ones that have covered this story .and thank them .the rest of the them have blacked out this victory.we need a nother one on feb 5 to shock the public c-span .will let you have some air time .be quick and to the point.thanks agine www.c-span.com …good going nevada, they had the back done to make a stand, and say support mr ron paul for president in 2008.
January 20th, 2008 at 9:01 am
Dr. Paul’s second place finish in Nevada goes well beyond what I was expecting to happen. At best, I was hoping that Dr. Paul would at least place third but he surpassed that by a wide margin! I was very pleased when I saw the results! Congratulations Dr. Paul and I will be right back here tomorrow for the January 21st, Martin Luther King Jr. donation!
January 20th, 2008 at 9:32 am
My heart leaps for joy. Can he do it. Yes he can. Despite faux news. God protect him. The big boys are getting worried. This is a horse race. We are in it to the wire.
January 20th, 2008 at 11:36 am
I have to say that I am thrilled with the second place, but so disappointed in the media coverage. I am a slightly new Ron Paul supporter and was overly optimistic that a second place showing would be all over the news. But, as all the comments before indicate, he is still ignored. On CBS, Bob Schieffer said something along the lines of Mitt Romney took NV, but he was the only republican who campaigned there. That was it…inaccurate as Ron Paul was here in Vegas, and incomplete, as there was no mention of RP at all. Then, he went on to talk about the dems. grrr
Regarding the delegates, as I understand it, the republican delegates are not bound as they are for the democrats. So, even though in my particular precinct, most of the delegates are Romney supporters, they are not required to support him at the county convention. Therefore, we still have time to fight for Dr. Paul and sway those delegates’ opinions. I am an alternate delegate, and am hoping that some of the other delegates will win a fantastic vacation that will take them out of town during our convention! : )
And one more thing…If you were not a registered republican by Dec. 18th here in NV, you would not have been able to participate in the republican caucus. So, there may be quite a few more independents who did not get to voice their opinions on Saturday. So, there may be more supporters who were just not able to be heard at this time.
January 20th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
Thank you all the on the ground workers there in Nevada. I hope you fully realize that you are like General Washingron in his win at Princeton on Christmas… real morale boosters!!!!
I hope we ALL learn, however, that simply waving signs and shouting Ron Paul, Ron Paul doesn’t win primaries and caucuses. To old folks, it mean a bunch of wild “kids’ Like they rememebr in the 1960’s. Buch of radical hippies. Don’t belieive me… look at the demographics of the vote for Paul. The oldies like me have the highest % turnout so IF we ignore them and/or turn them off, how will RP win?
Knowing the Party rules and getting RP supporters to run as delegates and volunteer as Precinct Captians is the way to win.
January 20th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
Paul possess all the same qualities of the other neocons. He just doesn’t support the war.

i am from las vegas, voted and now an unplanned delegate, but will do all it takes! the results? no way do i believe Dr. Paul ONLY took 14 percent , judging from my polling place it would be closer to at least 35-45 percent! at the very least it seems some of his votes were given to those such as mac! in my precint it was 6 for romney one for julie one for mac and 3 for the good doctor. delegats? 3 for paul 3 for romney one for julie one or 2 or the romney supporters delegates did not want to go to the next level wanting only to cast votes and forget it, so they may not show for romney!!!!! the julie supporter and her husband the romney delagate came to me after the event as we walked out and confessed to me they really support dr. pauls platform , but they have gone with the media expression that he will not win no matter what is done thus cast vote for another , so there is even some chance they will change their mind.
In the same room another precient was voting at the start it was 3 paul supporters and one other but they were soon joined by one other person i am not sure if he was a paul supporter, but clearly paul took the lead in that precint!
when standing in the “main room” looking at the number of paul stickers and romney stickers it was close to equal perhaps in favor of romney
January 20th, 2008 at 7:07 pm
Go Ron Paul! I hope you get the first place in another area ASAP!

So, now that Romney dropped out, does that mean that Ron Paul wins NV by default?
